Work Related / Re: Even Numbers Again?!!

According to the post on the glass ALL drivers & attendants with even # routes must be present at 5:30am on 3/20/15 for inspection and supposedly that's the word from OPT. So that means someone with a 7:00am start time has to come in at 5:30am. Sarcastic question - Do we get paid for coming in early? Also this makes no sense because 15 minutes into the inspection we will be told if you don't have a trip come back after your morning run. I would assume there are approximately 200 even # routes. Even if they started at exactly 5:30 at least 130 buses would have to come back anyway. Am I interpreting this notice correctly?

The reason I ask besides the obvious that I need my job is that to this day I still write letters to our Councilmembers, Public Advocate, Mayor & Governor. If since the removal of the EPP the City is truly saving a substantial amount of money and at the same time statistics show safety & tardiness has not been compromised then I am wasting my time. As I said it's been two years I would think that besides our Leadership posting a letter every few months that they are working with the Mayor's office that they would post some facts such as the ones that I am asking.

I guess my question is a joke just like most things around here. Until the shit hits the fan than the jokes become serious issues. And before someone tells me I'm to serious DON'T because I am serious!

It's been over 2 years since the strike. Does anyone know with certainty just how much the City has saved or not saved due to the removal of the EPP?

Buzz
Thank you for the clarification which makes sense but that leads me to another problem. At a Union Meeting a couple of months ago (the one that was basically about approval or disapproval of the last election) I personally spoke to Michael for about 5 minutes before the meeting started. There was no one else around, no noise, no confusion. I asked him 2 questions. The first was "What do you personally think the chances of keeping the EPP is?" His answer was basically yes. The second question and more importantly (in my opinion) was the exact question that I posted on this site yesterday. It was " Michael if nothing is done on the State level can Mayor deBlasio reinstate it on the City level?" His answer was different from yours. You said NO and explained it. He said "YES" and even had told me the actual term it is called. I forget the term because I was just so happy to hear the word YES. I'm sure you can tell from my Posts & Comments throughout the past year that I do not take things lightly and pay attention to what's going on. Most of all I care about my family & this Local! There are two facts here. Your NO post and Michael's YES to me. All I can say is I hope you are wrong. If not there goes a back up for the EPP if it doesn't go anywhere with the State. Also it means either Michael lied (which I don't believe) right to my face or he didn't know (which I hope not) what he was talking about!

I voted for Michael this time & last. The only difference is this time my vote was swayed more toward Michael because he was already in talks with the Mayor's Office. At the time I was under the understanding that the International President and Michael had a good relationship with Mayor deBlasio. Also that deBlasio is on board with us. If so I don't understand why the Mayor is waiting for something to happen on the State level. He has the authority to reinstate the EPP without the State. It may not be law but he can do it just like Bloomberg took it away. So my question to the Mayor & Michael is just that???????

Well then maybe our Union Leaders can post something. ANYTHING at all (such as we're trying or we're in contact with the Mayor's office) then we can call it NEW NEWS!!!

Obviously people r posting things now because it is getting closer to a possible end of their livelihoods. Just as the so called pink slips HAVE TO go out when June 26 comes and if there is no EPP or not more then a ONE YEAR EXTENSION most likely we & OUR FAMILIES r in deep trouble. Should we not let out r concerns???

Ever since the strike they basically do work for a "Different Owner". And God forbid Pioneer was to shut down then you would see it for sure. Because it would just be a matter of time before it reopened with the majority of the current Drivers & Matrons out of work and ALL of the Mechanics rehired.

I just went through the so-called bus wash! What a joke. Also what does it take to take the ice out of the bucket, fill it with water, add some soap and put the brush in it? I'll tell you what it takes. It takes some one with authority to tell one of the mechanics to do it. After that it takes about 5 minutes. Then maybe the 400 buses that come back can actually leave the yard clean!

I would like to know also. After all it is our livelihoods.  For the past week I keep hearing about it but it's like keep it quiet not everyone is supposed to know. WTF

One time I asked if I could use the power washer on my bus. I was told no. Today & yesterday I see the same mechanic power washing his personal car. All you can do is shake your head!

It also helps if there is soap!

I agree with you Buzz. I'd assume if you work on the holiday u'd get 4 hrs besides the day's pay but for those who are considered "New Hires" I think you only get the day's pay. Also whether a New Hire or not the above is directed towards Pioneer employees. Those on this site who work out of a different property have a different contract. With regards to Holidays ask your Shop Steward.

And John Israel if u r one in the same I don't know. Either way with regards to the last post I agree & disagree with parts of it. Obviously the next couple of months will tell us exactly where ALL involved really stand. I've been in this Local for 12 years now and have voted for and stood behind the current & past President and EB. That includes being behind SALERNO when he was a delegate. So r u saying in the past when he was a delegate that he was no good. Obviously our past President & EB did some wrong but let's not forget what they did right. Many of the things that we have lost are things that they negotiated for us to have in the first place. As far as Michael and the present board they ran into Bloomberg and I don't thing the outcome would have been any different if Tommy was the President. Don't get me wrong I think Tommy is good for this Local but since he lost his opportunities to become President he has changed. He should have just ran on the Slate under Michael. Furthermore as U state about elections. We have them and I stand behind whoever is elected. That's whether or not it is the people I voted for! Stop the separation and get on board if you are truly a Union Man. Then next election you do what you got to do.
