What ? Makes no sense at all ! 🤨

I think as far as expired medicals, certifications, etc. The city will overlook that, they'll have no choice. We all know they've been known to change the rules with the snap of a finger, or make new rules with the snap of a finger

Started there in the 90's,

That's exactly what I said, the city never owned the property those companies had, they were privately owned. Maybe now they do but not then. I worked for Varsity and pulled out of fountain ave. On weekends I would do a few Command runs in & out of Aquaduct race track. Varsity, Command, and Triboro Coach we're owned by the same owner, Stanley Bretschneider, because he married into the Cooper family

Well Pioneer doesn't own their routes, they bid on them just like the companies I mentioned above did. And I am almost 100% certain that the city did not own the property those companies pulled out of. The old Varsity school bus company share the same yard as command bus, along with Triboro coach and varsity. When varsity shut down, the owner turned it into an airport parking lot, so I doubt the city would do with that if they owned the property. In actuality, it would be a pretty easy transition.

If I were you guys, I wouldn't rule this out. It's not inconceivable and can be done. Who remembers green bus lines, Triboro coach, queens surface, command bus, Who are they working for now and who took over their routes.

I know, sucks for us all. Hope none of our coworkers get hurt over this. Honestly, this is a lay-off, not a Furlough. And the doe doesn't seem to care, or anyone else either.

What does furlough mean?
A furlough is "a temporary layoff from work." People who get furloughed usually get to return to their job after a furlough.

People often encounter the word furlough during government shutdowns, in which nonessential public employees are told not to go to work. Private companies, however, also furlough employees.

In general, people are not paid during furloughs but they do keep employment benefits, such as health insurance. Furloughs are mandatory. Workers are ordered not to do anything work-related while they are on furlough.

Yup, and a mess it is! I'd like to keep both the 85% and the medical benefits. If Neil gets his extension why wouldn't we?. The way I see it if anyone can retire you should retire, and you'll retire with medical benefits. That's if you can afford to of course.

It depends on what you're doing, in my case I need an official letter of cancellation.

Well, I hope we hear something soon within the next couple of days. Because I'm about to jump in my car and put my papers in, pull my money out and call it a day. I'm beyond sure the EB is working hard for us, but to find out in two days we're gonna lose income and medical benefits is quite a punch in the stomach.
