Amazing what members believe

A message to the uninformed members
1st It's a guarantee of 39 weeks of work and no one is working for example during normal times if you don't come to work you don't get paid even in a guaranteed week. And these are not holidays and are not regular school closings.

2nd Even in a regular school year companies are paid monthly-NOT for the whole year.

3rd IF the DOE was paying 100% to the companies (which they are not) the DOE and the union would insist that the companies paid 100% to the workers. The DOE and the union would not let the companies make a profit on this emergency. But the companies, in fact are getting paid 85%. And this was after a lot of pushing and negotiating with the DOE to approve that. The other alternative was everyone would have gone on unemployment and our medical benefits pension and the union itself would be in jeopardy of survival.

We are blessed. Look around - many people are out of work collecting unemployment and in jeopardy of losing their own medical benefits. Unemployment is overwhelmed, you can't even get on the website.
Some of the businesses they work for may never reopen.
Families will struggle to put food on the table.
And the economy is collapsing.
We have members and other companies around Long Island and upstate that Are not getting paid they must go on unemployment.
