If anyone listened to Mayor Deblasio's press conference yesterday ( july23 press conference )  , when asked the question about schoolbuses returning when school reopens , he said the schoolbuses WILL be a part of the reopening process, but it has to be done safely.https://youtu.be/CRwQcPtIbOY
(Go to 17:15, if you don't want to listen to the whole press conference )

Yes, hopefully the union will look into this immediately.
After seeing what the board of Ed did to the companies in May, nothing would surprise me anymore.

Read the 4th from the last paragraph , it says the priority of the DOE  is to provide bussing to students with IEP mandates for transportation mandates, and they are working to develop alternatives in partnerships with the MTA and TLC.
Does anybody know what this means for us??

Well , I am just hoping that the city makes a decision soon about our situation , because as it looks now, even if the city is ready for school in September , there is no way we will be ready to go back.
Between drivers expiring medicals, refresher classes, Covid training, not to mention that I understand all drivers will need To be recertified , (after 30 days or more of furlough),September seems  very unlikely , so let's hope we get some answers soon.

yes, i was wondering the same thing?  The bids are so close to september, how would the city and the new companies be ready,{unless they just  renewed the existing 1181 companies that have the routes and buses already}  At the last meeting,I asked Cordiello  about the november bids and he told me he was very concerned and working hard to get those bids delayed, but i didnt think they would get delayed until may. Boy,this made my weekend alot better!

 Okay, I am always polite to all union members whether on this site or in person. I certainly did not intend to insult anyone. Maybe we can move on now

Proud member,you made your point,so give it a rest already and lets move on! i am not trying to insult the members who want to vote for salerno, but the truth is that  many of them are ignorant or unknowledgable {thank you Buzz ,for the definition of ignorant}to the facts. I am with SNT    {consolidated} and  there are a good number of members who are going to vote for the salerno slate. When i ask them why, they cannot give me a reason, except that they dont want Cordiello as president anymore. [i actually heard one salerno supporter saying that he rather have a "blind dog" as president rather than Cordiello.] I tell these people that they are making decisions  with their emotions and not their head. i also tell them that they are ignorant of the facts and they should try to come to a union meeting and/or investigate the facts before making any decisions. Many of these people are my  good friends and they do not get insulted or take offense. Proud member, you are making a huge issue out of nothing. In my experience,Most of the salerno supporters are diehards,and you can say whatever you want and it will not change their minds. If you want to talk to the members politely and try to convince them to vote for the cordiello slate by kissing their ass, go ahead. i am just telling it like it is, and I make no apologies.  {P.s if you were  referring to me badmouthing the Salerno slate, all i said was that their qualifications were not impressive. how is that badmouthing anybody?  proudmember,lets keep our  eye on the ball  }
