Contract Update 12/19

I spoke to Ernie this evening and he says we are closer than we have ever been to getting a contract though there are still a few things that have to be ironed out. Again, he could not divulge specifics. I hate being kept in the dark as much as anybody but I understand that the contractors are a "touchy" group and making public things about which they may not yet be in total agreement with can hinder negotiations and even  work against us.

Ernie wants us to remember that when we finally do have a contract that it is ultimately up to us to accept it or reject it. Once we do have an MOA there is no such thing as "going back to the table." We either find enough things right with it that we accept it, or focus on what we many not like and decide to hit the streets. It's "Yes" or "No." There is no in between. It's a decision each of us will have to make.
