I am trying to understand one thing here, was relaints contract that they turned down the same one we are going to vote on or is it a different one. The contract they turned down is NOT the same one we will be voting on. (And ours is better.) Each company enters into an 1181 contract individually now. It has been done for decades with 1181 companies outside NYC that never had the EPP, and due to the loss of the EPP here, is the only hope 1181 has for keeping as many members working as possible.

So, forget the "All for one" battle-cry. Now it's "Every company for themselves." We have to stop living in the past and adjust to the new reality. I cannot stress enough that there is NO WAY WE CAN REJECT THE CONTRACT WE'RE OFFERED. We're not going on strike, and even if we did it would result in a WORSE contract or NO JOB AT ALL. There are some hard-liners who want to fool themselves (and others) into thinking otherwise, but this IS the reality. We have no recourse, there is no Plan B.

As Ernie put it in his post, we're getting back about 80% of what we lost in April. The way I see it, we were losing about 20-25% of our income with April's imposed contract. Now, to my rough calculation, we'll be losing 8-10%. Nobody likes it and we can talk about how much Neil is making all we want. But as Ernie pointed out, there is no judge who will tell Neil how much he can make. We can talk about his greed, but it would only be our own greed that would ultimately do us in.

Many union members in many different industries have hard-balled themselves right out of jobs. Let us learn from their stubbornness and not be victims of our own pigheadedness. A vote to ratify the contract is a vote to KEEP WORKING. If you don't really need this job and can afford to gamble with your future, do as you please.

How big is Reliant, how many Union members are in their ranks?  Since they rejected the contract offered to them and if they end up on Strike... walking the picket lines again, what would Pioneer Union members be expected to do?

I don't know the figures, but they're very big. And knowing how aggressive that company is, they were foolish not to pass the contract, (only lost by a narrow margin), and would be even more foolish to strike. They would be replaced, one by one. I'm sure we wouldn't follow them over the cliff.
