anyone know how the  talks are going

Buzz

They're not. Until the owners sign their contract our talks are going nowhere.

Thanks buzz.     Maybe it's time for 1181 to try a different approach with these greedy owners

Job action. get to the schools one hour late

Buzz

Supposedly we'll get a 5 year deal whenever the owners settle their dispute with the city over their contract. Something about reimbursement for escorts I believe ... I'm not clear on exactly what the issue is.

Why should we have a job action? We're still working under the last contract that we agreed to. It's normal for us to wait until the owners get their contract then we see what they are willing (or not willing) to negotiate with us. At that time, then we do what we have to do. Hopefully that will be just get up and go to work.

Thanks again buzz for the info.   It makes sense now why talks seem to be going nowhere.

Any word on yesterday talks.

Buzz

Ernie says it was "pretty good" and that we're "moving forward" ... with no details. Next meeting on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, for some unknown reasons, the contractors apparently walked back much of what was on the table last week. Ernie will give us more specific information on Thursday. Encourage everybody to make it back to the yard Thursday morning or see him before you leave the yard.

Your comment is well taken and that point may be drawing near.

(But it's not that many "here" per se ... last I heard it's 47 for all of Pioneer.)

Stop covering the runs means Neil and other owners will eventually lose those runs. Then ... that means less potential for new 1181 members ... then that means less pension. Let's wait to see what the new contract brings before we cut off our nose to spite our face!
