Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate voted Wednesday night to strip nearly all collective bargaining rights from public workers after discovering a way to bypass the chamber's missing Democrats.

Poor democrats stayed away from there families for 18 days and being on the lam still got them nothing,Bupkiss.....Keep listening to Obama.  They cant even run away correctly,,,,,only thing they know how to do is spend money and redistribute wealth!

Mirrorcheck, let me see if I have this straight. . You are a Union worker and you think the republicans union busting tactics are OK?  The republican party has an agenda and will not rest until all unions are done away with.  This will not stop in Wisconsin and it will not stop with just public sector unions.  How would you like it if 1181's collective bargaining rights were taken away? Do you think Neil would give us a fair shake at contract time if we can not bargain? The republicans have their own redistribution of wealth plan. Take away money from the working man and redistribute it to big business and wealthy corporations.  Big tax breaks for the the wealthy and Giant Corporations. They have guys like you who listen to the nonsense on FOX news bullspitted that they are looking out for you.  What a joke.

Thanks Squid for your thoughts.Perhaps if the Democrats stayed and debated as there job allows them to do and actually pays them to do(in Wisconsin) the outcome might have been different. Now we will never know.Personally yes your dead on I support Walker....and the reason I do is thats why he was elected to do just that.Maybe the people of Wisconsin who arent making what the teachers are and entitled to the same benefits just cant afford to bridge the gap with more tax hikes. It has to come from somewhere....Walker cant just print money like Obama can now can he????

Yes I am fiscally Conservative because when you overspend like drunken sailors like we have in NY what happens? I will tell you......you get to pay more taxes, get less services and less money to enjoy for your family....... Union ......or non union.  I support 1181....I pay COPE....and volunteered to do so I didnt have to be asked. Though if all of the Budgets are balanced and the books are in order do you stand to get a raise.....or the other way???

Finally did these protesters(In Wisconsin) need to break windows, stomp out flower gardens and leave tons of trash to the tune of a 7 million dollar cleanup??  Sorry they really did have me at the right cause its the manner in which they operated and two wrongs doesnt make a right. Also say what you want about how misguided the protesters are  I really dont ever want The Rev. Jesse Jackson speaking for me or 1181 with his mindless banter.

Wow, Squid! You think Obama and the Dems are looking out for you ... your kids ... your grandkids ... running us TRILLIONS of dollars into debt? Will you like paying $5 - $6 for gas when we have more oil and shale right here in the USA than all of Saudi Arabia ... but they prevent us from extracting it? I could go on and on, but I'll spare you.

I, too, say "Three Cheers" for Gov. Walker and those congressmen with their heads steeped in reality. Public sector unions are driving states and municipalities into bankruptcy all over the country. A system whereby a person can get a great pension for twice as long as he worked, and have a Cadillac health plan that he doesn't contribute a dime to, simply cannot sustain itself.

Nobody is looking to bust private unions ... there is no need to! Their collective bargaining has automatic checks and balances built into it. This is because the businesses they contract with have to operate at a profit, or cease to exist. Neil can't go to anybody and say, "Jeeze, these bastards want another raise and increased pensions, I'll have to raise your taxes again."

I went to breakfast with about a dozen other drivers the other day and Wisconsin came up in discussion. Not one person voiced an opinion against Walker and what's going on there ... and all but 2 or 3 of us there were retired city workers. They're thankful to have gotten theirs, but they know it can't go on forever.

The Republicans have their own redistribution of wealth plan? You're right. It's "Let the people who earn money, keep it." Whereas democrats take from the working people and give it to those who contribute nothing to the economy.

They take money away from the working man and give it to big business? I've got news for you, with or without tax breaks, big corporations don't pay taxes ... YOU pay them for them. If their taxes go up, YOU pay more for their goods and services and their taxes are paid. If they get tax breaks, YOU pay less for their goods and services, their business and the economy booms, and we ALL benefit by it ... something proven by the late, great Ronald Reagan.

I don't know if Fox News is looking out for us, but damn straight the democrats aren't ... and never have.

Buzz thats a great post. Also since Neil was brought into this ....I would add that Neil gets us our checks every week. Those checks are like Gold and cash with no problem at all. I have worked for contractors that when you go to banks you get NSF! -Non Sufficient Funds you cant even cash a check. Now that may not be right etc,but thats a whole other issue. My point being that you have to have money available to pay people for services....which I have gotten 100% of the time working for Pioneer.Perhaps Walker knew and actually said it....and its the bottom line "You cant keep kicking the can down the Road!!!"    Also if I were given the choice or chance to live on 89 k teaching in WI under there current agreement I would do it in a heartbeat....thats not bad for that area...its liveable in this area.

Oh, and I neglected to point out ... we're only a step away from being paid by taxpayers ... The City >>> to Pioneer >>> to us! Guys who don't think our current contract is great in view of what's going on around us, better think again.

And, sometimes private industry unions put their companies' backs to the wall. What happens? Ask some auto union workers.

Buzz....I certainly care about our Union  and didnt want to be considered like someone who just absorbs one sides propoganda.....however I am very mindful of the economic climate....or lack thereof.

Yes whatever we got money wise in our contract ..... I thought was great.Considering all the people I know in private didnt get anything and dont have benefits like ours either.

People before criticizing Walker and what he did in Wisconsin need to realize he was elected to do what he did by the majority in his state.Yes as our leader said "Election do have consequences....." They do..... and that was his mandate. Also realize the Dem Party was there representing people that they will look for future political donations....it wasnt about what they think is right or feelings or any particular issue. Before people stick up for the people that organized for the workers, know the organizers were not there for any humanitarian issue,,,,that was a hack job...by political hacks!
