As the only major school system in the country to open schools, it's probably the ONLY good thing he's done as mayor to date. Why he let that accomplishment be hijacked by the UFT is beyond me. The threshold should never have been up to Mulgrew! I really believe that most teachers now realize that the classroom is the safest place to be and want to return. It's not them ... it's the fucking union.

If non-public schools can reopen ... even in red zones ... after testing protocols are met, why not public schools???

As much as it pains me to say this it was the Teachers UNION looking out for their own and with no regard for any other union workers that help to keep the schools running daily. But unfortunately as the representative of the teachers Mulgrew isn't tasked to worry about any other worker be it union or not. He succeeded in getting them a ridiculously low percentage as a threshold for wether they could stay open or be forced to close. But more importantly he made sure that in this situation they would still get PAID AND KEEP THEIR BENEFITS even while basically failing the very children who make it possible for them to even have a job.
Listen we all know that in person learning is by far the preferred method most if not all parents want for their children. But thanks to Dumblasio the BOE and Mulgrew they were able to instill enough fear in the parents and children that the opening of the schools was not the success they had hoped for. But now based on all the data since the schools have reopened both the parents and the BOE have realized that the schools are the safest place for the children to be. NOW THEY NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHICH SIMPLY STATED IS THIS RIDICULOUS 3% THRESHOLD.

He always bends over for the teachers union. The agreement should have been a 2.5-3 percent threshold IN THE SCHOOLS! Not the entire city, how are you gonna let outside factors factor into school closings. He and Carrazana are horrible

Hey Buzz so just spent an hour waiting for unemployment, spoke to a level 3 agent and she said unless I can prove I made more than 9,000 in the third quarter then they go by the Lowest 4th quarter of 2019, highest quarter. Can't use the 3rd quarter cause that's the filing quarter. I said so I'm being held accountable for not working April May June which is why my wages were low in the first place. She said well they don't factor in unemployment wages to the total amount for what we make in the quarters.
So being out of work those three months is what made my rate go down which is bullshit and makes no sense 🤦🏻‍♂️

Doesn't make sense AT ALL! April, May and June of THIS year should not enter into determining your rate. I edited their example to conform to your particular case. My changes are made in red. You will see that the second quarter of 2020 should not even be a consideration if they go by your BASIC BASE PERIOD ... which they are supposed to do AUTOMATICALLY. Your "year" for their purposes should be from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. Call again and TALK TO SOME OTHER DUMMY!

Lol I spoke to 3 agents then and 1 agent today. It is what it is. Not waiting on hold again for another hour or two. I'll suck it up but every which way I explain it to them that's their response and I'm stuck with 358 unfortunately because of April May June

they should open the schools period!  the states rolling average should have nothing to do with the schools opening and these higher ups should have no say.  .2 percent is not grounds to close schools.  they need to do something and fast!!

All I can say is, you're not working so you have plenty of time to wait on hold .... LOL.

If you don't want to call you can sign in to your account and send a message. It takes a couple of weeks (or more) sometimes for them to answer.

Or, you can print and fill out this form and include a note that the reason you're doing it late is because you were not aware or the 30-day mail in period and also that you tried three times unsuccessfully to correct this when you first opened your book. Don't give up so easily. I believe they are completely WRONG. Good luck.

They're doing this guy wrong ... he's got to persist.

They hired a lot of new idiots when the pandemic hit and I don't think half of them even know what I've explained.

And on top of all this bullshit between Dumblasio and Caranzza they still have not released a definitive list of schools that will be closed on Staten Island come Monday morning. They have no concern at all for the children their parents or the multitude of people that it takes to get these children to and from school. They need to realize this is not like turning on and off a light switch. They are playing with other peoples live and livelihoods.

The plan devised by Dumblasio and The UFT differs so much from The States plan it is insane. From what i can make of it we are better off if the state takes over control of the DOE once Dumblasio's 3% shutdown passes 10 days. We will for sure have a better chance of opening at that point.

THIS NIGHTMARE NEEDS TO END !!!!

Same answer as I gave when you asked yesterday ...

Did Andy or Anthony not ask you last week if you wanted to work this coming week? (Are you at Sharrotts? Don't know if Tony was taking names there.) If they already have you on the list they wouldn't need to call. If you have any doubt give Andy a call.

If they have you on the list, yes, you will be notified if it comes to you.

Bad news I cant share anything with you 🤣🤣🤣. I said it word for word of what you told me and she said you were particularly correct just the quarters were wrong. They do it based off of 2nd,3rd, 4th 2019 And 1st quarter of 2020. She said it kinda does suck how it worked out but if I was offered an extension I would have exhausted that extension quickly. But based off my figures during those quarters that's why I am not getting the 504. Thanks again buzz

You were right but the quarter was wrong

If I had to guess I would think all the private charter and Jewish schools that fall into this orange zone are going to test this week and open as early as possible. I am thinking those runs will be added back into the mix as the week passes putting more drivers back behind the wheels. Hopefully Dumblasio and DOE rethink their approach as well and minimize this shut down so we can all get back to work ASAP.
They were so proud to be the first big city to get children back in the class well LETS GET THEM BACK IN THE CLASSROOM AND STOP THE BULLSHIT.

Not sure what you mean the "quarter was wrong" but the quarters mentioned above are the correct ones. (They're the ones I indicated in my illustration.) Apparently you didn't earn enough during those quarters. Because you kept saying it was because of April, May and June of this year is why I thought they were using the wrong Base Period.

Well, you tried. Sorry.

If you were doing an active run....will they text us to come in Monday?? My school was open..??

Just because you were doing an active run does not guarantee you will be working Monday. The work that is available will be given out based on seniority. If your seniority qualifies you to work and your run is active you will cover your own run. If not you will be handed work to cover.

There is supposed to be something going out from Pioneer letting people know if they are working or furloughed. When that will go out is anyone's guess.

Saturday morning at almost 10:30 am and still no notifications from Pioneer ?

This is just a question What do we all do if we fail to get any notification at all from Pioneer ?
Do we just show up for work on Monday if we worked last week.
I mean I know we still have like 45 hours before these children need to be in school so what's the rush right. Lol

I am pretty sure most if not all of us would be more than happy just to return to work.
Hopefully Dumblasio Caranzza and Cuomo can swallow their egos and think about the children they are failing, and the lives and livelihoods of the people who are unfortunately not working because of their incompetence. I truly don't give two shits that Dumblasio is now prepared to take blame for not having a plan B. To little to late he has already caused to much unneeded stress and frustration to both the families of the school children and the rest of us who make the school system operate on a daily basis.

The numbers and the science show that the problem is not in the schools but in the everyday social aspects of people's live.
STOP PUNISHING THE CHILDREN AND THE SUPPORT STAFF FOR THINGS BEYOND OUR CONTROL !!!

I know. But I don't think it's the teachers themselves now that they know school is the safest place to be. It's fucking Mulgrew ... but de Blasio allows it be that way.
