To my  Pioneer 1181 brothers and sisters,
   
                        I would like to take this time to thank all of you for the warm reception I received  this morning at your Staten Island yard while campaigning  , I would also like to personally thank your shop Stewart Ernie for his warm wishes, he is a gentleman and a good union brother.

Ernie is a gentleman and an good union brother. However, his cordiality and self control should not be mistaken for warmth, and certainly not an endorsement. Last election Salerno carried on like a baby because of the "reception" he got at Pioneer. Ernie was merely trying to avoid a similar scene by keeping himself in check.
