Title: Back to work on April 20th?
Post by: Eucerin on March 25, 2020, 01:35:27 PM
Actually, I'm was hoping to go back to work on April 20th... listening to news report in NYC,  I am concerned. I realize it is over three weeks away and this is a fast changing situation. Good luck to all and be safe.

I still think there's a good chance of going back on the 20th, just my opinion. I'm not saying this shouldn't be taken seriously or that we shouldn't take precautions, but this thing has been so over-hyped it's ridiculous and de Blasio and Cuomo only ramp up the fear and panic.

How would we be better off on unemployment?

I'm not sure if this virus will be contained by April 20th. So from a health standpoint, I'm not sure if going back on April 20th is a good idea.

No way is unemployment better!
85% pay is more than unemployment and more importantly
No Pay means No Medical

Hmm ... does that mean 1oo% or our 100% salary ... or 100% or our 85% salary?

Either way, rather get paid the way we are now and know the benes are covered.

i think it could mean we would get 1104.00 a week from UE...this was my point earlier in the week ,when everyone jumped...   and yes benefits are a big thing, but maybe we can benefit for the month of july ..i think this is for 4 months as of now..   :drink_beer: :drink_beer:    and lets not forget corporations will get more then the working man will get also... as usual...

So do we know if we will keep getting paid after April 20th? Or not yet? Also do we know for sure if accrual check is a live check? Or direct deposit?

I don't know if true or not and in case it comes to it maybe one of our Pioneer internet Gurus (Buzz) and check on this ahead of time. I was told by a small business owner (who has approximately 50 employees) that in the case of employees on unemployment that the businesses will continue to pay into Medical benefits for their employees and then be reimbursed by the government (federal or state, I don't know). If true, I also don't know if this is available to big businesses and/or Union companies which obviously have contracts.

Didn't hear anything about that. What the bill does include is $600 per week of unemployment benefits ADDED to our state benefits (for 4 months), which would give those of us at top pay almost exactly what we're getting at 85%. Lower salaried employees would probably come out ahead. But of course, the medical coverage is an important consideration.

Is there a possibility that while collecting unemoloyment we would still have our benefits? During the summer months we keep our benefits. Just wondering....

Anything's possible, but let's make it to the 20th first and take it from there.

(And don't forget, we make up those summer months when we go back to work.)
