Work Related / January Parking 2022
December 31, 2021, 06:11:17 PM
Happy New Year To ALL!

Hope everyone had a Good Holiday, and is enjoying their time off.

Curves:

Carl will be in on Wednesday 1/5 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Please see him with your payment.

Johnson Street Lots:

Please see Grace or myself Monday 1/3, no later than Wednesday 1/5 with your payment. Grace will be in the yard early (6:00 am). She will be out front of the driver's room or sitting in her bus. I will be in at 6:45 and back in the yard at 3:20 (hopefully). Please catch one of us then or call me so we can make arrangements to meet somewhere.

Thank You to All the members that paid before the break!

We have spots available in both lots, signal and double lots. Don't wait until your car gets hit or buried in snow! It's really not worth it!! It's only a 3 minute walk to the yard and you don't have to get up an hour (plus) earlier and sit in your car before work, just to find a spot on the street. Your Parking Spot is there Waiting for You! Ask any of our members!

Wishing All a Healthy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thank You!

Work Related / Johnson Street Parking - December
November 21, 2021, 07:31:22 PM
Gobble Gobble All You Turkeys!

We will start collecting for the December rent tomorrow (Monday 11/22). It's going to be a short week and our rent is due the following week. As usual see Grace in the morning on the shuttle or myself at 3:30.

Update:

We use to be the only cars parked on Johnson street, we started the parking! But now there's 2 other companies parking on Johnson street with us. They both pay much more for their space. As you remember we lost a lot last year and had to make a new one further down the block. That company is paying over double, then what we paid and for 12 months not 10 months like us. Now a new owner bought the property (stores) on the corner and having all the store owners and employees park behind the old trailer. I counted over 15 cars and its a mess with only 1 way in and out. They block each other bumper to bumper. The owner's plan is to remove the old trailer, and even with that they still going to have a problem. I have seen some of their cars in our lots!!! I have left notes on their cars that they will be towed. I then got a call from the watchman etc. that lives in the trailer that they belong to the stores on the corner and he had to put them there. That is the situation we are in. Business is business and the owner will give them our lot(s) if he has to. The owner comes by and checks our cars and needs to see permits in the window. Its not hard to put your permit in the window or write your name, cell # and bus number on a piece of paper and leave it in the window, if your using another one of your cars. This is why I put notes on everybody cars without Permits. (I know its you but the owner doesn't and calls me.) What we have going for us is that I Pay on Time each month.

There are spots available in both lots and please help to try to fill them, so we don't lose any space in our lots. If you get in late please see Grace in the am, it's hard for me to wait 1-2 hours for you to get in for your payment.

Thank You!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Work Related / GREAT NEWS - CURVES IS NOT CLOSING!
October 02, 2021, 05:13:18 PM
Curves:

Carlos spoke to the New Owners on Friday and they decided they will NOT have a lunch Menu. Apparently he told the new owner that several drivers would have to retire if they closed the parking. Thank You Carlos!!! They are going to put a small dumpster in today, lets park away from it so they can do their work . Carlos also asked me to let everybody know Not to park in the row in front of the dumpster before 6:00 am, so they can come in and take it away. Also please Do Not clean out your car in the lot.

Johnson Street:

Several drivers paid me for a spot on Johnson street (as a backup) when we thought Curves was closing. I will RETURN All your payments in Full (except Barry's)! Everybody gets their money back except Barry, Everybody Except Barry!(lol). See Me this week for your refunds. Thank you all for signing up too. There are now several spots Open.

Thank you to all the drivers that paid on time last week. I have 20 drivers that did Not pay yet. Payment is due Before the 1st of the month. We can not keep our parking lots if our payment is Not made to the Owner on time. We pay about 1/2 of what the owner can get if he rented the land to others (trucks, trailers, buses etc.) Also we only pay for 10 months instead of a full year. If you Can Not pay on time let me know (no hard feelings) and I wouldn't count your car in. Last month I returned 2 drivers rent to them after I paid the owner, because they went to Sharrots. Bottom line I was out that money. See Grace or myself asap if you want to park in lots!

Again please pull up to the street (black top) if your parking in the front of your team mate. That will give him room to get out before you.

Permits Must be put in the window.

Sorry if I came off hard, but the owner wants them in window.

Thank You Again!

Work Related / Carlos Will Be In On Friday
October 01, 2021, 03:41:00 AM
Hello

Curves:

Carlos will be in on Friday 10/1 tomorrow. He will be there after work until 4:00 pm. The new owners were there today. There is no new news about closing.

Johnson Street:

Payment is due tomorrow Friday 10/1. See Grace in the morning or myself. I get in approximately 3:30 pm.

All spots are full. I started a waiting list and have 2 drivers so far. I can not approach the owner and ask for more land if I can not guarantee to full it. It will take at least 2 weeks to get the land ready. So if your interested to park in one of the lots on Johnson street after Curves closes, let Grace or me know so I can put you on the waiting list and get an idea how much space we will need.

Please park closer to the street (black top) if you park in the front. That will give your team mate room to swing around you and get out if he's there early.

Please put your Permits in the window.

Thank You:

Work Related / Parking Lots September
September 05, 2021, 09:04:12 PM
Hope Everyone Enjoyed Their Vacation!

First - All lots went up $10.00. That's $60. for Curves and $50. for Johnston street lots.

Curves:

Good News - Bad News

Before all the rumors start, I spoke with Carl and there are New Owners! He was able to keep us on a month by month basis until they get their liquor license. The new owners want to have a lunch menu, so they don't want us there. My personal guess is that it would take them at least 3 -6 months to get it. That means we maybe able to stay there till November or New Years. (I personally think the Hot Dog wagon would do better for lunch.) The facts are at least 5 cars have to leave now, because the electric company needs the spots. These drivers will be picked by Carlos! Grace and I are ONLY collecting money and making the permits for him! I advised him to wait till after the Pick so he knows who is still at AK. I probably will make the permits starting on Thursday. I will keep you updated if anything changes. This is not in stone yet, but this is what's going on now!

Johnson Street Lots:

The rent is $50 a month plus last month's rent and  a $10.00 sign up. The total is $110. to start. Grace and I will be collecting starting on Tuesday at the pick. So if you want your spot back see Grace or me Before Friday 9/10. At this time, I DON'T know if any spots available until after the pick. So if your still staying at AK and still want your spot see us Now. I started a waiting list and have 4 people on the list already. I will also try to accommodate the drivers that have to leave Curves.

Just a recap as of now:

Curves is closing unknow exactly when, it's month by month! Rent is $60.

Johnson Street Lots is $50 and last month's rent plus $10 sign up. Total $110.

Thank You

Work Related / Angelo
April 28, 2021, 05:11:36 PM
First I want to express Our Deep Condolences to Angelo's Daughter, Granddaughters and Family. During my brief conversation with you, you said that you were very pleased with Our floral arrangement". That was very comforting to me. You also mentioned that you want to "Thank Everyone for their Support", and that you read this website.

I want to Thank Everyone for Their Donations also.

A Special Thank You too:

Owen - for his permission and full support,

Andrew and Anthony (our shop stewards) and everyone in the union office,

Barry - for contacting Angelo's Family to see if they were accepting Flowers and Donations, also for texting me the picture of the bus that was used for the arrangement.

Tony Di at Sharrotts - for Not hesitating setting up and supervising the donations there.

Bobby Jenkins, Carmine and the girls in the Office - for your assistance.

Grace - for setting up the Donation Jar at A.K.R.

Andrew 119 for calling me on Saturday and Pledging an additional $100. towards the arrangement if the donations didn't cover the arrangement.

Scott - for volunteering to represent Us to deliver the remaining donations to the Family.

And Everyone Else that I Know must have Helped out.

Our Final total donations amounted to $1,430. Which was delivered to the Angelo's Family yesterday. The floral arrangement cost $555.00. This was achieved within (only) 3 hours of donation time.

That is remarkable!

Your Father and Grandfather was well Respected and Loved. That is why this was possible by so many.

On a personal note:

Angelo - I will miss your smile, giggle, laughter and kidding around. If you told me once you told me a hundred of times as I was walking out the back door to my bus in the morning, "DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS". I will miss that, also will never forget it either. We All could remember something special about Angelo because that was the Type of Man He Was.

R.I.P. My Friend!

Work Related / Johnson Street Parking - April Rent
March 21, 2021, 10:19:41 PM
Hello ALL, Hello Spring!

We will begin collecting rent for April starting tomorrow 3/22 (for April). See Grace in the am on the shuttle or myself in the pm, I usually come in between 3:00 - 3:10. This gives you plenty of time to find one of us. If you get in at 2:55 you can plan your day waiting an extra 10 minutes to see me, and if you come in at 4:30 - 5:00 my time is also important and I don't want to wait 2 hours for you to collect so you have a parking spot.

We did very good over the winter with the Snow, no real problems to mention. I must ask every member to keep doing the good job by parking in your spot.

I did move a few cars around, and expect to move a few more with more drivers coming back due  to their schools openings and time changes. If you fall in this category, please let me know and I'll try my best to accommodate your needs.

One other thing to mention; several members changed their cars (new cars, good luck with them) so I know your permit does not match your new car and sometimes your new plate. Please use the same permit and PLEASE put your permit in the window. I can match your permit with your name and bus number.

That's for ALL members! Please put your Permit in the window.

Curves:

We didn't do as well parking at Curves last month. Several drivers were not able to park in the lot and one had her car towed off the street. That was due to snow piles, construction in the back and drivers not pulling all the way back. As of last week all spots are back and there should be No parking problems going forward. Carlo will be in this Thursday. I spoke to Carlos today and advised him of the tow truck that at times blocks our exit. He will speak with them and correct that situation.

Thank You All and Have a Happy Spring!!!

Work Related / Parking Lots Update 3/1
February 24, 2021, 07:07:06 PM
Hello All,

Curves:

Update 3/1:

Carl will be in on Wednesday morning 3/3. March payment must be in the mailbox by 7 am, or see him in the morning.

  JOHNSON Street Lots:

Thank You for those members that have paid last week "On Time". Members that have Not Paid yet, see Grace or myself by Wednesday also. Payment is due to the Owner On Time!

  2/24

We lost at least 4 -5 spots at Curves due to the snow piles and a POD that was placed in our lot. Several drivers had no place to park this week. They parked in the street and one driver had her car towed to inside the lot and dropped, blocking 3 other cars there. I spoke to Carl 4 times Monday morning advising him of the situation. He came in yesterday and I met him before 7:30 am. He had the POD moved over (gained 1 spot) and tried to get a backhoe to move the snow piles. He was unable to get a backhoe, so the snow piles will remain. He said he already spent $800. this month removing snow.

The parking situation is also caused by us and can be corrected. Everybody that parked yesterday DID NOT PULL ALL THE WAY BACK! You did Not backup to the fence and building. There was 6 feet between the back of your car and either the fences or building. This caused the front of your car to stick out and may it difficult for other drives to park and pass by. Also another driver parked in the center lane and Killed a spot along the fence. That was a ME/ME and the hell with you parking later.

Carl suggested putting everybody's name in a hat and pulling out 4 or 5 names, and those names would have to leave for March and asked me to collect the permits. I told other drivers yesterday morning of his idea and they suggested it should go by seniority parking (which I agree). This morning Louie and I spoke with the construction crew doing the work and Louie calmed down the situation and the crane operator agree to try and help removing the snow piles. But they leave at 2:00 pm and our cars are still there.

Bottom Line: Let's work together for a few more days until the snow melts. PULL YOUR CAR ALL THE WAY TO THE FENCE AND BUILDING. DO NOT BE A ME/ME PERSON - IF THERE IS A SPOT DO NOT BLOCK (KILL) IT - TAKE IT! We have too many cars for spots right now and You will be the one turning in your permit.

Carl will be in on Wednesday 3/3 - you can drop your payment in the mailbox or see him then.

We are collecting for March payment this week, see Grace or myself for Johnson Street Lots (this Week).

Thanks
Gary 106

Work Related / Parking Lots Update 2/2/21
February 02, 2021, 08:16:09 PM
Hello All Shovelers lol

Curves:

Carlos will be in tomorrow wed 2/3 at 7:30 am, If you didn't pay him for February please leave it in the mailbox when you get in, or see him tomorrow morning. The lot is suppose to be plowed today, but bring a shovel just in case it isn't.

Johnson Street Lots:

Spoke with management and our 2 lots are on the list to be plowed as soon as the bobcat becomes available today. I spoke with "our" bobcat driver twice this morning and he's still waiting for the bobcat. He will plow about 1 inch above the ground (stones), which we should be able to drive over with no problem. Again I would suggest to bring a shovel tomorrow just in case it's not. We need to be able to help each other out, if anyone does get stuck.

Last week we had 2 non-parking (paying) members parking in our lot and taking up your spots. I spoke with them and offered them a spot, but they didn't want to pay for it, period. I also advised them that they been warned twice already and the owner has said he will "tow them next time". One answer I got from a driver is that he didn't want to walk up the block that cold morning. With that in mind, Please put your permit in the window or if your using a different car, at least put your name telephone number, bus number and permit number on a piece of paper and put it in the window. This way I know its you. As you can figure it's going to be hard to park on AKR this week and you don't want anyone taking Your spot.

Please have you payment tomorrow and see Grace in the morning or see me at 3:00 pm. Thanks to those members that already made their February payment last week.

My niece called me on Sunday told me about this location taking appointments and giving out the Pfizer vaccine shot. I was able to make 3 appointments and we got the shot on Monday. Our appointment was for 12:40, we got there at 12:20 and was back in my car by at 1:00. It was very organize and well staffed. They only took 150 people on Monday and was booked out for Tuesday.
That's all the shots they had for the week at that time. They made our 2nd shot appointment then. There was a parking lot next door, so parking was no problem. I would advise you to try this place it's well worth it. It's located at 382 Jersey Street 10301.

www.somosvaccinations.com

I would try at anytime, even over the weekend, they make appointments as they get the vaccine and don't over book.

Good Luck!

Work Related / December Parking Payment is DUE NOW.
December 07, 2020, 06:43:00 PM
Seems like there might have been some confusion on December Parking Payment. If you are back to work then you MUST see Grace or me NOW for December. Those members that are NOT working today or this week, I will use your security.

I was trying to make it easier for you not to make a special trip to make the payment. Some members told Grace this morning that they DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THIS MONTH. That is Not what I said. There were over 20 cars in the lots this morning and Grace ONLY got 2 payments. In these unknown times going forward, that's what the security is for.

My PAYMENT to the Owner is Due on the 1st., and Must Be Made On Time or We Lose the Parking. I agreed to a Month by Month term this year, so I am Not liable for a 10 month contract as last year. We do Not want any reason to lose our Parking which he already moved us from the small lot last month. He got over twice as much for it then we were paying and for 12 months not 10 months.

We will also be collecting for January 3 days before the break (21st- 23rd or before).

Curves:

Carl will be in tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9:00 - 10:30 - see him or leave it in the mailbox tomorrow morning.

Thank You

Hope Everybody had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Curves:

Just spoke with Carlos and he will be at the club on Thursday 12/3 from 9:am till at least noon. If you have a spot there, either see him on Thursday or leave your envelope with your name and bus number on it in the mailbox. You can also see Grace who is working this week for payment, I am Not working.

Johnson Street Lots:

I want to Thank All the members that contacted me over the weekend on how they can pay their parking. Also to those that made December payment with Grace. I really appreciate it!!!

With all this confusion on runs and who's working or not, I decided with the help of other drivers (members) that the best and easiest way for all, is to use your security for the December rent payment to the owner. Most members and I are not working this week so I feel it is easier and better to see you next week (Monday) and collect. If you are working you can see Grace for payment, she is working. If you make your December rent payment, I will not use your security. I will wait till Thursday and whoever did not pay, I will then use your security. This is best for all involved. I am in the process of calling everyone to ask them if they are ok with this.

For those members that have more Important things going on, then to think about rent. I will not contact you and don't worry about parking. I wish the Best to You and Your Family!!!

Grace's will be at the yard 6:15 am and back at 2:50 pm this week. Please see her for payment if your working.

Thank You

Curves Parking ---

Carlos called me this morning and said "there are 15 drivers that still did NOT pay him for November!" He gave me a list of the drivers and their bus numbers for Grace and Myself to collect for him. He came in today from N.J. and there was Only 3 envelopes in the mail box. His due date is on the 3rd of each month to pay the owner. As you know he moved to N.J. and it cost him tolls and gas to come here. He does not stay at the club anymore every day. He stated "you will lose your spot or he will close the lot after this month if he is Not Paid by tomorrow"!  You Must PAY Grace or me by tomorrow or leave it in the mail box in an envelope with your name and bus number on it. Please let Grace or me know that you left it in the mail box, so I can let him know.

ps: Neither Grace nor Myself get Paid Anything to help him with his parking rent! We have enough headaches collecting for Johnson street!

Johnson Street Parking Lot 2 Only!

We lost the area we park in now Lot 2 only. The owner already got paid by the business across the street to rent it. He got over twice as much for it, plus its for 12 months not 10 months as we pay him.
NOW the Good News; We have moved a little further down the street. The cement blocks, the 3 trailers and the 3 fire trucks have already been moved. The land was leveled and rock will be laid down by Sunday. We also may pick up a few extra spots. The spots all will be signal spots (1 car).
You can still park tomorrow (Friday) where you parked today. Starting this Monday YOU MUST PARK IN THE NEW LOCATION!!! Lot 1 stays the same, no changes.

Thank You Again
Gary 106
