As per Ernie: Consolidated broke ranks and accepted a 2 + 1 deal. (2 years guaranteed, possible 3rd year.)

Who knows? So far the others are sticking together for 3, but time will tell.

EXACTLY what does 2+1 mean? What is the difference from just 2 or 3?

As stated previously, it's a 2-year contract and they have the option of giving you a third year.

So does that means after the two years if they offer you a third that you can't negotiate for more and you HAVE to take the third or you are out? If so wouldn't it be better for the contractor to take just a straight two year contract (saying he is not offered more such as a 3 or 5) than two plus one?

I really don't know the particulars of the "plus 1."

Though I did not hear it first-hand, the guys at the "Round Table" said Ernie was there early this morning and corrected himself saying that Consolidated's was not a done deal but that they are considering the 2 + 1 offer. Stay tuned.
