Title: A Ray of Hope?
Post by: Buzz on February 21, 2016, 12:29:16 AM
I hesitated to post this because I really don't know what I'm posting about. But figuring that after the disappointing contract we would all welcome the possibility of something positive going forward, I'll go with it.

Last week, one of the delegates was talking to me and a few other guys. When I mentioned the EPP he caught us all off guard by saying although he couldn't tell us what it is, there is "something in the wind so big that it'll make the EPP seem like a fart coming out of your ass." (That's a quote.) He said again that he couldn't talk about it, couldn't tell us what it is, but that it's something BIG that "guys have been wishing for ... hoping for, for 30 years ... 40 years." (Another quote.)

So there you have the fodder for starting your own rumor. Be creative. Let your imagination run wild. Whatever it is, if and when it comes to pass, it's going to be HUUUUGE!

I don't think the city is taking us over....from what I can make out of this proposal is they are looking for an experienced transportation person to economize the bussing industry because they are incompetent..it mentions being able to propose certain conditions to VENDORS.....of which Neil is on of many. Remember Neil has 2 more years on an extension on his current contract. The city is NOT looking to add to workforce or pension woes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bomb:

Possibly not all companies will be "transitioned" at once, and probably not until their current contracts expire, but these excerpts from that posting are pretty clear to me. We're going.

Currently, all of our busing services, including equipment, is contracted. OPT will be enveloping these services into the everyday life of the DOE, ...  recruiting top transportation performers to implement this ground-up, in-house operation ....

The Contract Manager will be responsible for the oversight of the transition from contracted servicing to insourcing  ...

Manages the procurement process to support the transition from contracted bus services to insourcing, keeping in mind all applicable contractual obligations, laws, rules and regulations associated with busing and services. Manages the overall purchase of vehicles and all associated responsibilities, including replacement of parts, warrantees of services and goods, etc.

Ensures conformance with all regulations and guidelines pertaining to bus driver, buses and escorts and other regulations associated with bus transportation.
