Just spoke to Ernie and he's not home right now so he asked me to post a message.
First, the company had to send out the letters now because it's getting late in the day. That does NOT mean Neil and the union won't hear from the DOE before the day is over. Both he and 1181 are working feverishly to try to get a reply from the city, one way or another.
Next, you wouldn't have to worry about unemployment until Sunday, May 10 as this week we're getting a full check for last week, and next week we will get a check for the last 4 days of April. A lot can happen between now and then.
However, if the union and Neil don't pull a rabbit out of the hat today, we will have no medical coverage as of tomorrow. He understands how upsetting that is to everybody but says it's not over yet so don't give in to despair.
ok well we will wait to hear from Ernie then. also need to know how much COBRA costs and cant wait for the Welfare Fund to send us a letter in the mail. we will need to act now if this is the case.
