Title: If You're Opening a New UI Claim ...
Post by: Buzz on May 08, 2020, 11:34:13 PM
Check your BYE date to see if you have to open a new book for unemployment. If you haven't done it already, do it before Sunday. Say that you're out of work due to COVID-19 (not lack of work) to be sure the waiting week is waived.

One of our members did it earlier today and the email they sent him said he would have to wait 3 - 6 weeks for his first payment.Ouch!

If we already have a book open since last year, no need to open up a new one correct? Also we are putting down lack of work as the reason ?

Yes, if you already have a claim open, "Lack of Work" is good. I don't think COVID-19 is even a choice for Break in Claim.
