Title: OPT: More Fucked Up Than Ever!
Post by: Buzz on October 05, 2020, 04:34:36 PM
So, let's see how OPT "fixed" this particular situation.

Some runs that used to drop off IS 34 at 7:30 all of a sudden had to wait until 8:15 this year.

OK, so how do they do their next school on time? Let's use one I'm familiar with .. PS 4.

OPT "fixes" is by saying, "So, just do PS 4 first! We'll move first-stop pick up times  for PS 4 to 7:30, and start IS 34 runs at 8:00."

ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BRILLIANT!!

One problem: PS 4 won't take any kids until 8:15 either. So If you're sitting at PS 4 waiting to drop off kids at 8:15, how do you start your IS 34 run at 8:00???

It's like OPT has never done this before. They have no clue that you can't change one school without taking into account the affect on the other school(s) on the run.

Mind boggling! How is it possible to be so inept and still have a job?

i think its a cluster fuck due to DOE and UFT... opt needs to keep the run times the way they are...we dont have enough buses or drivers to accomodate every school new times...AM runs DOE needs to tell the schools they have to take kids into the school   the buses need to service other schools... problem solved

The problem with that is to my knowledge the BOE is limiting the amount of hours a child should be in a school building to 5 1/2 hours. Not sure how or why they came up with that number but that's what I was told.

For sure it is a cluster fuck of major proportions but they don't seem to care because they are not the ones out there driving the school buses.

I agree. The thing is, principals have a budget and they don't want to put people on the clock any sooner than they absolutely have to.

First I'm hearing of that but I'll buy it. Still, before they make bus time changes to any school, wouldn't you think they'd say, "Gee ... better check to see what their hours are and what time they'll accept kids?" It's so obvious you have to do that! The fuck is the matter with them.

Me thinks you expect to much Buzz. I think it's more than evident that the BOE and OPT obviously fail to give two shits how the busing gets done. Much like everything else that has happened so far it seems it's up to the drivers to make it work.
