If you haven't seen the email the company sent out with the list of schools getting service this week it says:
"To all Drivers and Attendants;
If your route is listed you are expected to report to work on Monday, 11/23. If your route is not listed you are NOT to report."

Wow ... 208 runs ... didn't think there were that many.
I think it's only 166 you have to subtract for all runs that have the same number, I believe they only constitute 1 run each.

You're right ... just realizing that if a run does 3 schools, they listed it 3 times. Didn't notice that when I posted it. I always knew it to be around 160 runs that usually work when public schools are off.
How many senior guys are on the looking for work list?
I would also like to know if pioneer is going to consolidate the runs. Easily the 166 runs could be reduced to 60 runs. I can't believe they'll have the runs the same way. Having drivers do a full day sounds more economical.
They get paid by the runs that go out. I would assume they would not consolidate.

No, they're not going to mix-and-match. Wanted to, but the union said no way! They're getting paid for each run so they're going to have to pay a driver for each one. Sounds fair to me.
Buzz, how many senior drivers are on the work list that are looking for work?
Steady
Not for nothing but why would you even put the idea out there of consolidating 166 runs to 60 runs?
This is a Union Shop and obviously we want as many members working as possible!

It's all good, bud. It's not like they didn't try it. They didn't need "steady" to put the idea in their heads ... LOL.
Hey Buzz,
1) rumor was going around that we were being paid 85 percent this coming Friday after Thanksgiving then we weren't and then it was being discussed again.....anyone know whats going on with that?
2) will the company be paying those drivers 85 percent who had schools that were open this week but being bumped off by a senior driver or are we collecting unemployment next Sunday?
3) does anyone know if we are keeping our benefits if we are laid off AND are we responsible for the 85 dollars a week?
Hey WTF,
1 I believe anyone not working this week is getting 85 percent for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. The holiday and the day after is based on your hired date and I believe that 1181 is still trying to get everyone paid.
2 I don't believe anyone was bumped of their respective runs for this week. That will only happen starting next Monday if public schools are still closed and Catholic Jewish and Charted schools are open. If you get picked off you go on unemployment like everyone else.
3 Based on what was said when the new contract was signed the company is supposedly guaranteed 43 percent for everyone that doesn't go out. That money was ear marked for benefits, pension and bus maintenance. But as we already know nothing is guaranteed when dealing with the DOE AND DUMBLASIO.

Gotcha thanks, yeah I'm here a year so I know I get Thanksgiving and there was talk then no talk back to talk about people getting 85 percent the day after. Andy told me this morning the list is going to be handed to senior drivers from the bottom of the list run wise so I'll def be out until schools reopen back up and on unemployment till then I guess. I'm going out this week, next week I guess not. So just trying to see if we are getting 85 percent the day after thanksgiving

1) As of 10 minutes ago, still no answer on the 85% for Friday for new hires.
2) As Hammer said, everybody with non-public is on their own runs this week. Nobody should be claiming unemployment this Sunday. Everybody's getting paid something.
3)
Supposed to be keeping benefits, all to be paid by employer. (But that's only as good as the city honoring their contract with the owners.)
Thanks Buzz. It's a given that Neil would do a lot more if he could to maximize his profits. It's good to know that union rules won't enable runs to be altered. I have no doubt that my question didn't put any new ideas in Niels head.
Just to be clear. I wasn't saying that any question would be putting anything in Neil's mind. I'm sure Neil is ahead of us with everything and anything.
So when will we know definitely and for how long our medical will extend. I don't understand why it has to be so.
so vague.Surely it has already been discussed between management and the union.

all to be paid by boss...does that mean we not going to get a surprise 85.00 a week bill ,like the pensions back pay for may and june...
Are we gonna be notified if our run is taken next week? Or as they say handed down

As of now, that's the way it stands. Neither the management nor the union can guarantee what the city might do in the future and that's what it all hinges on ... the city honoring their contract with the owners.

If everything goes the way it's supposed to, the company will pay all of our medical and pension out of the 43% ... but of course it's contingent upon the city actually paying the 43% to the contractors.
Remember what one of our drivers says: "Heyyyyyy, we got a good joooob." ;D ;D ;D

I don't know if you're going to be notified by email or by Andrew or Anthony, but I'm pretty sure you'll have advance notice somehow. A furlough notice has to come from the company at some point.
But please note one distinction: Nobody's run is being "taken"
per se. Those lower in seniority will be laid off according to how many drivers the company actually needs and the runs that are working will have to be covered by those with more seniority.
South Shore designated orange zone. I don't think anyone will work any time soon. Says schools have to close 4 days in order to test.

Does anything dB or Cuomo do make sense? If other schools can re-open after testing, why doesn't the same apply to public schools? Fucked up!

And then I assume once public opens back up we get back to doing our regular runs?
By the end of the week unfortunately it looks like all the Staten Island will be orange or red. I guess Cuomo knows for the presidential election.
Just got tonight's email. We went from 166 runs to 161 runs.
Yeah and that doesn't include the schools we will lose on Wednesday when the Orange Zone takes affect.
If we are honest about it I doubt we will be open much longer and if we are it is going to be hit or miss at best. Dumblasio keeps asking for the parents to sign the consent forms if they haven't done it by now I doubt they will do it at all.
If the schools have to meet the restriction guidelines that come with being deemed an Orange Zone we are in for a long haul.
