Title: How Did You Answer This Unemployment Question?
Post by: Buzz on August 25, 2024, 03:53:02 PM
When opening a new claim, in Part 1 it asks:

1. "Did you lose all of your employment in the last 18 months due to lack of work?

Yes, I know it's always "Lack of work" but "all in the last 18 months" ... WTF??

Could mean did we lose all work OR could mean anytime that we did lose  work in the last 18 months was it due to lack of work.

What's with the friggin' word games???

How did you answer?

When I did this last year I recall I chose NO because it states did you lose ALL & we didn't lose ALL of our employment due to lack of work. So I chose NO to that and YES to earning more than 5,040 gross. My claim is up after next week so when I open up my claim during Xmas week like you suggested me to I'll be choosing NO to the first question and YES to the second question. Once again we didn't lose ALL of our employment due to lack of work.

Every week that I claimed in the last 18 months was because of "Lack of Work". So for me the answer was YES. The claim was approved.

When there's a break in claim yes the answer is yes lack of work but in 18 months you didn't lose ALL of your employment due to lack of work, pretty sure the answer is NO because we don't lose ALL of our employment

Well I see it as "ALL" of my employment lost in the last 18 months, which I made a weekly claim for, was due to Lack of Work. Just because it isn't a straight 18 months out of work does not make the answer NO. "ALL" of my employment lost in the last 18 months, and all of my weekly claims, WAS due to "Lack of Work" intermittently!

I guess keep us updated if your weekly rate changes. I remember checking off NO and everything was fine but I guess keep us updated since nobody knows a clear cut answer on how to answer it lol

Well, see ... that's what I mean. It can be interpreted either way. But judging from the responses, no matter which way you answer, the claim goes through.

I appreciate the responses! Thank you.
