Hey Buzz just triple checking. So I just filed my claim and above it, it said file a new claim. I remember you saying to avoid not getting paid for Xmas week by UI the following Xmas to open my new claim this year during Xmas week correct? So when I log into my account this December it will still have open a new claim there? And when I claim my waiting week we will be working so I would put down the hours I worked correct ? And my first UI check would be presidents week

Wait a minute. You opened a new book today? Sunday? You realize this is for the week that ended Sept. 1, right? Why would you not have done it during the week? Did you already file a claim for this past week?  When did your benefit year end? If it ended Sept. 1 you should have waited until tomorrow to open a new claim.

My year end date was 9/1.  The top option said file a new Claim and under that it said certify benefits for this week. I certified this week that's all I did. I'm not opening it tomorrow because if I do I'll be in the same situation next year and not get a UI check Xmas week so I'm going to click file a new claim in December like you recommended.

Oh, okay ... I misread your post.

But I do find it odd that they even give us the option to open a new book the same day your current claim expires. I had the same experience and it's fucked up because if you did file a new claim the same day you made your last claim, it would be for the week you just claimed! Pretty sure it would be denied.

Sounds like you're good.

Yeah really odd. So yeah I just claimed my last time on the old claim and gonna leave the file a new claim option during Xmas week
