A driver brought to my attention that he and other drivers have been receiving warnings of expiring medical certificates even though they had their physicals done and paperwork submitted on time. This has necessitated hurried in-person visits to the local DMV and a $12.50 processing fee.
The problem stems from the office sending the certificates with drivers licenses in a way that is not acceptable by DMV in Albany ... either because it's too small to be legible or the drivers license is covering part of the fields that have to be filled in.
You can avoid this by signing up for MYDMV https://dmv.ny.gov/mydmv/sign-up-for-mydmv using you NYS ID ... what you use for unemployment ... and emailing a copy of your certificate with your license to dmv.sm.cdlmedcertunit@dmv.ny.gov . It takes a week to 10 days. You will receive an email confirmation that your certificate has been updated.
If what you send to DMV looks like what I sent you'll have no problem. Make sure your license doesn't obscure any box that has to be checked even if it isn't checked ...

I got this the other day from NJ DMV saying my medical is expiring 3-6. I sent it out to them on 1-15 before getting their letter. I called the NJ CDL unit to see if they received my paper work and they said they did and it was processed on 1-23
Not sure if Jersey has a similar online procedure but you got it done.
If our photo looks like that we might have a problem ;D

Maria left.
I know but by now doesn't the new person who took over for Maria learn from their errors yet ?

I guess she will eventually. I think she's just learned to give people more than 2 weeks notice that their medical is due. One thing at a time. :))
