I just registered and looked at what it's like....bunch of reading material and quizzes
We getting paid for this?
Quote from: Safety First on June 04, 2026, 06:36:52 AMWe getting paid for this?
I dunno but it looks kind of intimidating. There's like 5 different quizzes we need to pass and readings
Quote from: Safety First on June 04, 2026, 06:36:52 AMWe getting paid for this?
I had anticipated some of the questions people might have as soon as I read the email and asked Scott in advance. Scott only knows what he was told and has no way of verifying the accuracy of that information. This is new to everybody.
Don't blame him if this is not entirely accurate. However, as far a he knows we are getting paid for the actual time it takes us to complete the training. Supposedly there is a time stamp on each section that logs how long you spend on that part and we'll be paid accordingly. He's been told there is a timer on each part that controls when you can proceed. (Sounds very questionable to me but this is what Scott was told.)
Be that as it may, just getting hourly pay for having to work on a weekend does not seem adequate and the union should see about that. (Of course if you chose to do it on June 19, most of us get paid anyway so ....)
The DOE's bullshit never stops.
Buzz I did create an account to see what it's like and there is a 2 min timer that goes down to 0. There's sections we need to read and quizzes we need to pass

Apparently there's an upside to this shit. Found this info ...

Yes then logged out quickly lol
IMPORTANT NOTE!The course must be competed on the SAME DAY you choose to start it. You cannot start one day and finish another day.
This has been retracted and amended to say IT IS ADVISED to complete in one day but not required!
I didn't see that, did someone start and not finish yesterday and had to start over?
the email stated course has to be completed on one of those 5 dates.
Quote from: metsjets on June 05, 2026, 10:30:04 PMI didn't see that, did someone start and not finish yesterday and had to start over?
Not sure but I know somebody started it and even if he finished it he might not get credit for it. Has to be done on one of the specified days.
My post above about finishing the same day is as per Scott.
Anybody do it yet? How long did it take you?

This is contrary to the instructions.

We need like an answer sheet or something....what if we fail what are they gonna do decertify a driver ? We have our CDLs and they constantly keep throwing hurdles at us
Just Google the question and get the answer.
So I started the test and backed out of it. It does state that you can do it in one sitting or take breaks. During the video portion you can not go to the next section until the timer in the video has complete as it shows in the picture that I took

That is correct. Scott retracted that info to say it is recommended that you do it in one day but not required.
Yes,y ou cannot proceed until the timer runs out ... which is what I'm waiting for as I write this ... LOL
These duration times are insane
IMG_0581.png
Since module 3 I've been setting a timer on my phone a little shorter than the holding time ... going outside or doing whatever ... coming back in time to take the test and going on to the next module.
As I said before, if you're not sure of an answer to the ridiculously easy tests, just Google it.
Just when you thought noting could be more excruciating than our safety classes, the DOE says, "Hold my beer!" :drink_beer:
OMG that was brutal ! ( boring and long )

So is there any word we getting paid for this??

Scott says we will be paid for the time it took which is about 6½ hours. However, since we had to do it on our own time, I think the union should insist on time and a half.

DCAS Defensive Driver course
Just a reminder to only do the course on a NON SERVICE (non work) DAY. The office is asking to try and get it completed sooner than later so they will have time to input all of the certifications and to process payroll and also to assist members who are experiencing issues.
Thank you Scott
just complete - 6 1/2 hours with 2 hold time resets

Course
If you add up all the minutes from each section that comes to 6 hours and 21 minutes.
Then we had 8 separate quizzes at say 4 minutes a piece for a total of 32 minutes.
Combined that comes to a minimum of 6 hours and 53 minutes. My opinion is the Union should make sure each of us get paid a minimum of 7 hours which just happens to be how long it took me.

On our personal time? No ... at least time and a half.
Finally fucking finished...every module had 4 questions......6 hours later
I agree but we won't get time and a half reason being is we have never gotten time and a half in the past for watching DOE or any other mandated videos on our personal time.
We've always gotten 4 hours straight time pay. The only difference from this time and the past is in the past it never actually took 4 hours but we got paid 4 hours and no one (at least that I heard of) complained about time and a half then. So the precedent has been set and nothing's going to change it now. The only shot at changing it now is if all of us go to the executive board and speak up. I've personally learned that will never happen. I've stood up and have spoken for members and when the shit hit the fan NOBODY wanted their names mentioned and I got shit on. Having said that if you want to call the Executive Board and complain I'll gladly second your opinion.
For some reason I kept failing the last quiz and on the 3rd try I passed but it's over Thank God
That was Brutal !!! I've never taken a test that long in my life!!! My ADHD was really being tested today ! ;D
@PROUD MEMBER ... Nobody complained because 4 hours amounted to more than time and a half. Nobody spent that long doing those PDFs. (We're getting them in 2 weeks, BTW).
This was different. The timer doesn't lie. We did our 40 hours Monday through Friday. The law says we get paid overtime after that. We shouldn't have to convince the union of that.
Stop kidding yourself. Nobody complained because of two reasons first and foremost because every time we got paid four hours it only took us three minutes. Secondly because overtime pay went out the door contracts ago.
If what you were saying is true about we all worked 40 hours Monday through Friday and we deserve time and a half pay then many of us who cover extra work should be getting time and a half pay for Monday through Friday work. The bottom line here is no one (with probably me being the only exception) is willing to put their neck on the line for what they believe is right. And you just confirmed that yourself. Instead of saying that you would contact the Delegate, you say we shouldn't have to contact the Delegate.

I suggested it to Scott and believe he will bring it up with John Cleary.
And 10 security questions? TEN?!! Ft. Knox doesn't have that kind of security!

Let me just clarify. I believe we should get time and a half but because of contracts because of past practices, I don't think we will get it. But obviously it's worth a try.

Somebody else told me that too. Very odd.
I spoke to about 10 drivers
1/2 said they got the questions
The other half said they didn't
