The contract is still being reviewed by the union and lawyers for final approval. If it is not in our hands by Friday, Ernie plans to hold a meeting after work Friday to read it to us, particularly so that we will be aware of clauses that might influence the runs we choose. He is trying to avoid postponing the pick.
At this point I truly believe the pick should be postponed. It is in the best interest for all of us to have a finalized SIGNED CONTRACT then have the pick. We've gone through enough this year. To ask us to pick without a contract in place or at least not voted on before we pick shows a lack of respect for all. It's fairly simple. VOTE ON A CONTRACT THEN PICK. It's not like it can't be done it was postponed twice last year.
Just saying if we pick... what happens if its voted down...what happens if union and lawyers have a problem with wording or some work related problems.. Vote on contract then pick... Not to much to ask...BY the way Anything can happen at anytime and we pick we are stuck or maybe not but why chance it
If someone thinks it's important enough to stand on the back of a pick-up truck & read bits & pieces of a contract proposal to 400 and something people before the pick. I believe it's important enough to read & examine & vote on before the pick especially because it has a direct effect on what you pick. When everyone is together, simply just have a vote on whether to postpone the pick or not.
The pick should be delayed until January. By then the headache from the contract should subside a little bit. And scumberg will be gone.
 :thumbup  :
Every person should be handed a copy of the contract. Then we should be able to mull it over for a day or two. We should not be voting for this contract by a show of hands. We should put our vote in a box or we should mail it in, and cancel the pick until the contract is final.
no pick guys and girls...we have nothing left but now we can stand together united and say no pick..there is absolutely no communication from 1181,except from ernie and andy...thank god for them, but as far as woodhaven blvd there is no word on anything, and its not right...we looking for a contract our 1181 brother and sisters are getting letters about loosing jobs for new years..we won every court ruling, where is the $$$$..how does the appeal process work with nlrb,is the appeals filed already and whats the next step,is there another hearing or does the judge just review the appeal and make a ruling..but meanwhile the drivers and escorts who do their job are the ones that are suffering ,noone else is....

This meeting is NOT to vote on the contract. That would be done by paper ballot after we've had time to peruse a written document. This is simply to give us the highlights because some parts of it might affect how we pick. However, if it is necessary, I don't think Ernie is opposed to delaying the pick.
I feel NO Pick till after the contract is voted on...we have no recourse left to us
DELAY THE PICK. We should have the right and opportunity to sit down and review this proposed contract before we pick. Why? Because once again it affects our pockets...potential double days (if that will still exist), overtime ??, should we pick public, Jewish, Catholic, etc. All $$$$ that some guys pick in relation to. C,mon, The pick is basically all we have and it can easily be delayed. To hear highlights is not good enough. You know that turns into a screaming match over issues. And by the way, not everyone will be able to make it to the "meeting in the yard". Second jobs, child care, appointments. C'mon if it affects our pockets DELAY THE PICK. If it were not for our stewards we would know nothing....just like on the strike line. :bomb:
Ditto on the thoughts to delay the pick. Tired of being shoved and pushed around....enough is enough....this isour future at stake!

You state "I don't think Ernie is opposed to delaying the pick". Did you actually approach him and ask him?

Yes ... he's not saying it couldn't or wouldn't be done, just would prefer not to.
