Title: Curtains for Island Charter
Post by: Buzz on April 02, 2014, 05:00:02 PM
Looks like Island Charter is going out of business as they said they would last fall. Could possibly change if we get the EPP back ... http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2014/03/ic_bus_got_outbid_250_staten_i.html

Buzz, would you know how this would affect Pioneer?  Would we be able to pick up some of those runs? Much like the runs we acquired from Atlantic? As usual, thank you....

I wonder if we will be written about in the same context in April 2015?

I heard a rumor today that we might pick up a few runs but I haven't confirmed that. If another company underbid them and got their runs I'm not sure why there would be any for Pioneer. I'll try to find out (though I doubt anyone would know for sure right now).

They are closing because they got outbid not going bankrupt.. Another non union company taking over there runs.. Paying drivers 11 an hour.. This does not affect pioneer at all. Next year tho it could be us.. It's time to look else where for work..

Bloomberg's master plan is taking effect. As I stated during the strike, Reliant will benefit the most from bids going out. They are taking over 80 IC routes. I strongly believe there is a connection between MV/Reliant owners and the former administration. Just my opinion. Smells fishy. Pretty soon they will monopolize most of the work. Not a union
friendly company.
According to DOE, three different Brooklyn-based transportation companies will take over the IC Bus Co. routes in September. They are: Anchor Bus, with 14 buses; Reliant Transportation, with 80 buses; and Vinny's Bus Services,  with 32 buses
