Bus coming in Brooklyn looking for drivers. Basically the same starting pay as our new drivers but they are offering Paid Holidays, Paid Sick Days and Health Insurance at NO COST. Something doesn't sound right!!!

I saw I few brand new buses in the yard this morning. Does that mean Neil is close to signing a contract with the DOE?

There is a Union meeting tomorrow night (Oct. 31st). I had intentions of going but unfortunately something came up and I'll wont be able to attend. To anyone who plans on going could you please ask Michael why we are endorsing Mayor de Blasio? Specifically what he thinks the mayor will do for us in the future and why is it that Mayor has never brought back the EPP the way that Bloomberg took it away?

Any word on when the runs will be posted. Specially will they be posted and WILL THE DRIVER'S ROOM BE OPEN this weekend Saturday (8/26) & Sunday (8/27)?

Although any deduction out of our paychecks is not wanted, have to give a thumbs up to  Michael & reps on this one. There will be an increase of ONLY a $1.95 per week for our medical. I for one was not happy when this was negotiated because it was not a  definitive number and had concerns the number may have been astronomical. Again, good job!!!

I understand how some of us sometimes get frustrated when going back to the yard and see a line that seems a mile long and then say I'm not waiting an hour or two to wash my bus. The wait is really not that bad and more importantly it's not worth the possible aggravation & consequences of not washing your bus. This morning I got back to the yard at 8:15am and there was 22 buses ahead of me on line. I got my bus washed and pulled out of the yard at 9:02am. 47 minutes ... not bad at all.

Mayor de Blasio just announced public schools closed tomorrow 3/14/17

Does anyone know when and how much the Union Dues increase will be?

As posted on the board this week as it is EVERY year it is a driver's responsibility to have a UPDATED READABLE L/R Sheet. Besides it is also a courtesy to our fellow Union drivers yet every year half of the runs either don't have a L/R, they are not legible or are not updated. I'm writing this with the hope that those drivers who do not do the right thing will do so this week especially with so many drivers starting new runs next Monday.  Let's not forget that besides that it is our job to do so & besides helping out drivers it is in the best interest of the children we transport and their parents!

I heard there was a little confusion this morning at the pick. Does anyone know if the Attendants are still picking at 4:00pm today or will it be postponed?

I'm assuming the Refresher Course Dates are the same?

This morning I saw an inspector in the BACK of the yard inspecting buses before the driver even got in his/her bus to do their daily pre-check. Curiosity, what if one of those buses had a defect. Is the driver and/or company liable? In my opinion NO. If I am correct than why is that inspector even back there? If I'm not correct than is it on the driver or the company?

When pulling out of the AK yard this morning and approaching the gate to make a right there was a bus coming down AK road apparently from Sharrots that stopped to let me & the bus ahead of me out. When I got to the gate at the same time the shuttle van was trying to make a left into the yard. Me already being in between the gate opening had to make a split decision. Either stop and back up or speed up a LITTLE and continue my turn. NO BIG DEAL for any of us professional drivers. I choose the safer thing to do was continue the turn. Some who saw it may have perceived it as reckless which is understandable. Believe me it wasn't! The other option of backing up at the main gate or hesitating and letting the van hit me head on was definitely more dangerous. To get to my point. When I witness another Member doing something wrong I do one of three things.
1. Don't say a word.
2. Approach that Member personally.
3. Tell the Shop Steward.
I DO NOT TELL THE OFFICE!!!
Well this morning within 3 minutes of this happening 3 Members told Tommy what they saw as a maniac driver. The point is whether a maniac or not YOU DONT RAT ON A FELLOW MEMBER!

Congratulations to and Welcome to the Newest Members of Local 1181 at Pioneer Transportation! Some of you have gutted it out and waited a very long time for this day. I am sincerely happy for all of you. I know there are going to be detractors to this but please don't. Unfortunately for some and fortunate for others it is what it is. The main thing is it is a step in the right direction for these new Members and for Our Local which I experienced first hand when I spoke with these new Members and saw & felt their joy and relief!

We lost one of our active matrons at Pioneer today. Jil Barberio. Thoughts & Prayers with her and her family.
