Can we also mention the rudeness of some of our drivers not waving back as we pass one another? It doesn't have to be a full on wave   just some kind of acknowledgement would be nice

Unfortunately that's true. I try for the most part to extend a courtesy  .... except for scab companies. But there are times you try to let the other person go and they just don't get it.

That's great advice but I make the fat kids get on the bus on their own.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Some of you are apparently unaware of an "old-tyme," unwritten rule of the road for CDL drivers whether it be truck or bus.

If an oncoming vehicle flashes their bright lights at you it means they are giving you the right-of-way. Whether it's to make a left turn in front of them, to pull out of a street or driveway, to tell you it's okay to change lanes in front of them on the highway or whatever.

They are yielding to you! They are telling you to go first, they are letting you go ahead of themselves. Capeesh?

School buses show their gratitude by turning on their flashing yellows for a couple of seconds. MTA buses will flash their 4-ways to say thank you and tractor-trailers will either do that or flash their marker lights to acknowledge the courtesy.

I thought this was common knowledge, but not so. Take it from me! I'm semi-professional! :rotfl:

I think they're going to try to have a class in Staten Island. You can get to OPT from any other borough in an hour or less ... NOT Staten Island. But in all these years, OPT still hasn't learned.

WhatBusTpday and PROUD MEMBER your are both correct. The COVID layoff  compounded the problem even more. There simply aren't enough drivers! I don't know why that's so hard for PEP members and parents to understand.

I've seen posts on Facebook from smaller school districts around the country that have actually had to close schools on some days because they did not have enough drivers. What would those finger-pointers say then???

Bloomberg is the cause of all of this.
At the time of his manufactured third term,
I had been driving at Pioneer for 10 or 11 years. At that time we were flush with drivers and there was literally a file cabinet with 100s of applications of people waiting to get called & hired. Every morning there was 10 or more shapes in the drivers room waiting for work and another 10 casuals waiting at home by their phones. Also at that time you basically had to know someone to get a job here. Now you can have just got off the boat and you automatically get a job. Back then if you heard a total of 10 late reports a year it was a lot. Today we hear 50 late reports a day!

" Several parents, including Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso complained that the city's policy of extending the busing contracts that date back to the 1970s has done little to address delays or other busing issues."

This will NEVER get resolved until there is a massive increase in hiring to cover every run. They don't give the companies enough credit for being down drivers and still covering multiple runs by drivers.
