Apparently until the end of November the "under the hood" part of the CDL test will be suspended for a special school bus driver classification. The purpose is to help the school bus driver shortage.

What I don't get, if I'm understanding it correctly, is that you cannot renew this "S1" restriction unless you get a permit and take a full CDL road test. (See the 6th bullet under "Key points of the FMCSA exemption" on the link below.) Seriously? What the hell is the point?

As was the case last year, you no longer have to call unemployment to get a 1099 mailed to you. It will be sent automatically.

From the unemployment website ...

In January 2024, NYS DOL will automatically mail 1099-G tax forms to individuals who were paid benefits in 2023. These forms will be sent to customers' addresses on file.

The officers set up a roadblock, and as the perps approached, they opened fire at the officers. The two officers returned fire, wounding one of the gunmen, who then fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, the perps engaged in a gun battle with Gallo's partner. Eventually three of the four perps were apprehended.
