Work Related / Re: Credit Where Credit is Due

Quote from: Buzz on December 22, 2022, 02:04:19 AMSome of us ... including myself ... often overlook the work that our shop steward, Anthony, assistant, Bob Hern and the guys that work with them do for little or no pay. Scott, Nico and I believe Ralphie A. are part of the "Whack Pack" that sacrifice and donate their time for all of us.

Years ago, assigning trips was the office's problem ... and technically, it still is. The guys in the steward's office don't HAVE to do it. They do it on a voluntary basis. It's a lot of fucking work ... hundreds of trips every week. The logistics are dizzying.

I know guys who have trip runs aren't very "grateful," but if you have trip a run you're going to get trips no matter who assigns them and you're going to get a lot of them. It's the job YOU signed up for. I believe it was Eddie Giggs (former shop steward) who took on the responsibility because the didn't think they were being assigned fairly. Our guys try their best to do them as fairly as possible.

On top of that, this week they have the added burden of getting the run sheets ready for the pick ... thanks to 1181 scheduling it earlier than it had to be. Separating Sharrotts runs, trip runs, etc. Maybe, if they have time, seniority numbers.

This is all in addition to the bullshit they have to put up with ... both from management AND from drivers ... especially Anthony  and Bob.

I think, at the very least, they deserve some acknowledgement from us for the thankless job they do FOR NOTHING, except Anthony who gets a few hundreds from the union and a free parking space. Not worth the aggravation, if you ask me.

I'm not saying you have to buy or give them something, but if you're of a mind to wish any of all of them a Merry Christmas, I'm sure they'd be happy to hear, "And thank you for all you do," as well.

Under the new contract those employees get the Christmas Adjustment Week as of December 2022 not after 5 years of service as I previously stated.
I previously thought payroll made a mistake 🤫

Slowbus, your reference to the Almighty signaled me to seek the counsel of my good friend, the wise, perceptive and highly respected Bishop Salvatore Di Fazino. Here is the message he wanted me to relay to you:

It must be terrible coming into work every day hating the place you work for so much. I don't know how you do it ... well, maybe I do. Maybe you need this job. If you could get something better, you wouldn't be here. So being that you need the job and Pioneer gave it to you, maybe you SHOULD be grateful for it. Gratitude would certainly make it more tolerable.
you have no idea .I have to prepare myself mentally everyday some days are ok others days are unbearable is been this way for 2 years now someway somehow I been making it work for me while also looking for a way out it just that finding something better takes time and I'm also tired of jumping from job to job ,pioneer only gave me the job because they need drivers because no body last on the job in 2 years I have seen a lots of drivers come and go if I wouldn't be with pioneer I would have been somewhere better or worse who knows so as much as I want to find a reason to be grateful is just not there . I'm only grateful with god with my mother and with myself .

No and no. (See comment below about snow days.)

(If he got paid during COVID, don't you think he would have continued paying us the 85% we were getting and kept our benefits? As a matter of fact, Neil paid us the 85%, our benefits and pension through the month of April in 2020 without any reassurance from the city that they would reimburse him. He tried to get the city to at least cover our benefits after that but they wouldn't, let alone pay him. The city broke their contract with the owners.)

If you're saying you were never given this before you were hired I'll have to take you word for it, but you're a rare exception.

But what do you mean it says nothing about the job? It's everything ... especially the negatives ... in a nutshell.

we need a big beautiful handbook with all the specifics limits and dos and donts

Quote from: 04012013 on November 22, 2022, 05:01:31 PMBuzz, I agree with you that all of this information was, and still is, available to any interested potential new hire. I believe a lot of the new hires are from folded bus companies, or from Amazon. These hires needed a job and may not have looked too deep into what they were signing on for. Unfortunately, this job is not a career. It is a retirement job for those that are already retired from something else. The last two contracts which we were persuaded to approve by our union officials has made us take many many steps backwards. This not only affects the newer hires, but will affect all of us in the long term.  :bomb:
off course they are going to persuade they are good 💰💰💰💰💰but what about the little guys
