New driver and matron hired due to strike.
"Rivera said that the driver and the matron were both new and both started after the school bus strike. She said that she felt they weren't trained enough".

Work Related / Reliant/ MV Transportation

http://newcity.patch.com/articles/legislators-award-bus-contract-to-brega

Read this article from Rockland bus bids. Lawyer for MV was previously appointed by Bloomberg as TLC Commissioner. Is that possibly one of many ties between Reliant/ MV and Bloomberg?

(Daus added that if the legislators voted to give the contract to Brega, MV Transportation would take legal action, as they don't feel it's within the legislature's guidelines to determine which company has the lowest responsible bid).
So I guess they would also feel that the city shouldn't have that power either. Depends how the bids go. Sounds like the way Bloomie gets his way all the time. It was also stated in the article that Daus's tactics might work in NYC but not it Rockland. Could it be an inference to Reliant's takeover of United?

Work Related / Rally

The rally was very positive but I think the Pioneer showing was not as strong as it could have been. I walked over the bridge with several senior drivers. Several newer drivers were noticeably missing. Hopefully that was not the case. This was a must attend rally. Everyone has things to due but this is our job.

Work Related / PA News Conference
February 05, 2013, 06:20:53 PM
There is supposed to be a news conference by PA DeBlasio and
parents at City Hall. We'll see what the mayor does to sidestep this.

NY1 News:
Public Advocate Bill de Blasio will join parents and advocates at a press conference today to call on the Mayor Bloomberg to come back to the negotiating table and help end the school bus strike as it enters its fourth week. The strike has affected 160,000 students and over 7,000 bus routes.

Work Related / Scabs in action
January 30, 2013, 08:49:44 PM
I witnessed first hand the fine job the scab matrons and drivers are doing. An Atlantic Express bus did not use stop signs while dropping off a special ed child and the driver/matron did not walk with the child. Maybe we should videotape these scabs and show the media what inexperienced workers do to jeopardize the safety and well being of children. Videos could be a powerful tool in our fight.
