Would you know and if not can you find out.
If I open a new book this July and collect $504 all summer when Christmas week rolls around will I get the increase and go up to $869 or will I have to wait until next July when I open a new book?

I'm sure a lot of us ... including myself ... have the same question. Don't know who would be able to answer that but if I find out I'll surely post it.

But I did find this from Google AI: "If you're already receiving unemployment benefits and your weekly benefit amount increases, you would likely receive the increased amount automatically when you certify for benefits in the following weeks."

Then it says potential reason for change, "State-wide benefit increase: There may have been a change in state law that increased the maximum or standard unemployment benefit rates."

Hopefully this will apply to us.

And I'd assume anyone that's thinking about retiring at the end of June 2026 will wait until after the summer is over and retire in September 2026, no matter what the Union recommends

Doesn't everybody do that already?

Not all. I know two drivers that have already put their papers in and June 26th will be their last day

And I know 2 that have notified the union already, will get papers soon, but will retire as of Sept. 1 so they can collect unemployment for the summer ... which makes sense to me.

Maybe the guys you spoke to meant it would be their last day of work and  not necessarily that they would start drawing their pension in July.
