honestly we need to go back to work and hope these politicians stay true to their word and things will be better for us on 1-1-2014  .but as of right now we will end up like hostess under this current mayor and this strike...he is the biggest piece of $hit to ever hit ny and the usa other then obama..hopefully these 1100 runs will get all fucked up without 1181 companies having them and the new administration will give them back to the companies that have handle the work for 33 years..i dont know what else to think anymore...

I think you would find a lot of people agreeing with you right about now. If we're going to get the EPP back, it would have to come from NYS legislature and Cuomo. That could take months, and there's no guarantee.  And a lot could happen in 2 years. We rolled the dice with the strike ... let's roll them again while we're getting a paycheck.

I don't really know the answer to your question, but if there is anything to it I would think our lawyer (and the international's) would be all over it. It definitely warrants exploration.

1181 Matters / Re: reliant bus company
February 10, 2013, 03:22:53 PM
Bloomy started his attack on 1181 a couple of years ago when he put a couple hundred 1181 para-transit employees out of work. Then the pre-K ... now us.

I understand what you're saying, but truthfully  ... does Bloomberg really sound like he gives a shit about us and would accept that from Neil as an excuse?

Looks like Walcott learned his canned response well from Bloomberg. They insist ad nauseam that it's not their fight. Don't see how this is ever going to be resolved unless and until the city lives up to their responsibility and obligation to work toward an agreement.

Once there's a strike, the "battle lines" are drawn, so to speak. Even though we're not striking against Pioneer it does become somewhat of an "us vs. them" scenario. The EPP is just as good for the contractors as it is for us but the Sword of Bloomberg hangs over their heads. Being under a contract that he threatens them with losing, they have to make every effort to at least try to fulfill their obligations. Stopping benefits is a dirty tactic and I don't agree with it, but I could see it serving the purpose of showing the Evil Dictator they're doing their best to coerce us to go back to work. I don't think Neil wants to hurt or alienate any of us, but the wrath of Bloomberg could devastate him and us even more permanently than being without health coverage.
