why the cut in shifts whats going on, are we giving up? is something happening?

No, just no reason to have overnights ... nobody's trying to sneak any buses out. Also it's to have more manpower available at other yards at critical times.

On Tuesday all 3 shifts originally assigned to Arthur Kill will meet in Modell's parking lot on South Ave at 5 a.m.

Thanks, Kramer. Here's the info I got from Andy.

Old Shift                New Shift
6 a.m. - noon         6. a.m. - 10 a.m.
Noon - 6 p.m.        10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
6 p.m - midnight    2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

This is for both A and B teams ... everybody at Arthur Kill except as follows:

On Tuesday all 3 shifts originally assigned to Arthur Kill will meet in Modell's parking lot on South Ave at 5 a.m.   (Those originally at Sharrotts will be at Arthur Kill at their respective times.)

Also, those assigned to Atlantic and Island Charter yards from midnight to 6 a.m. will now go there from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

I think that, as with the 7th and 8th graders, this is not as much about saving money as it is the mayor just having his way. He is anti-union ... period. If you're union, you're a target. Losing almost a half-billion dollars for failure to reach a teacher evaluation agreement did not concern him. Beating the UFT down was all that mattered. We're dealing with an egotistical lunatic, so logic goes out the window.

Let one of these poor kids get hurt because one of these scabs didn't do her job correctly and the shit will hit the fan.

Looks like Domenic is gathering a flock of scab matrons to work starting Tuesday (some possibly from PA). Hear they're getting a crash safety course of some kind over the weekend and their certs are being rubber stamped to fast-track them through the system. Let's see what OPT and their inspectors close their eyes to when it suits their purpose.

Well, apparently somebody thought better of sharing this video. Did draw some negative comments on YouTube.

Due to a quirk with the Board of Trustees, (which I don't completely understand), we only have benefits until the end of January. However, if you work any day in the month of February you will be covered for the whole month.

Work Related / Claiming Unemployment
January 19, 2013, 01:47:38 AM
According to this DOL document you should file a claim "... when the strike starts." Guessing that would mean Sunday, though if you made more than $405 for the 2 days we worked you wouldn't be able to claim this week any way. Better safe than sorry ... claim ... all they can do is not make it count toward the 49 days.

OK ... National Grid is no longer there as a subsequent flier indicates. The required documents can be faxed to 718-987-0197. You can go to 1976 Hylan and the women who sit facing the exit doors will fax for you.

Also, you must bring a voided personal check ... apparently payment will be by direct deposit.

January 17, 2013, 09:12:38 PM
National Grid is giving $1,000 grants to Sandy Victims. Visit them at the Restoration Center, 1976 Hylan Blvd, to apply. (Income must be below $150,000 ... no problem there ... LOL) Have this info with you:

1) A recent National Grid gas heating bill.

2) Photo ID

3) Proof of loss of at least $3,000 ... such as estimates, repair bills, cancelled checks, etc.

For more info call Nicole Malliotakis' office 718-987-0197
