Such bullshit. They didn't need their "devices." They can log into Google Classroom on any tablet or their mom's phone.Teachers could have improvised a lesson plan. smh

I mean I realize that if a school said a bus didn't show the office could say "Well so-and-so signed the card."  But that doesn't mean the driver did the stops.

Work Related / Get Your Card Signed ... But Why?
February 26, 2026, 02:06:39 AM

For the first time in many years, on Tuesday, being over 2 hours late for stops and schools, I had to go in to those schools to get my card signed ... as we are instructed to do. I found myself asking myself, "why?"

There was a time when this was the only proof that you showed up to a school even though you picked up no students. But since we now have on-board GPS systems plus the Via phones, don't they provide much better proof? Getting a card signed means you went to the school ... but it doesn't verify that you made all the stops.  Checking the GPS would be proof positive if there was any reason to question it.

Unless I'm missing something, in this day and age, the only thing getting your card signed does is make you even later for your next school. Am I wrong?

Saw videos of Manhattan ... streets are just wet. Meanwhile, just saw on TV that Grasmere recorded 29 inches of snow. The mayor should take a ferry ride and see what the real world is like.

From this Instagram post it sure sounds like the UFT is telling teachers to call out tomorrow. Wonder what the email says? Anyone  have a teacher in the family that can tell us?

Although I can count on one hand the number of times I have missed work for any reason in all my 32 years,  tomorrow might be another time. As of now I can't get out of my driveway or off my street. I think there will be a record number of drivers calling out tomorrow. (I have heard that the yard is plowed however.)

The mayor acknowledged that Staten Island got the worst of it. Is our borough president or are our councilmen confronting him? School buses on the streets will only make it worse for everybody tomorrow including DSNY.

Be safe everyone!

Quote from: WhatBusToday on February 22, 2026, 06:21:51 PM... After what happened last time we Should have Tuesday off too, an extra day for sanitation to get the streets in order for cars and buses to drive down streets and park

The only time I saw that happen was after the blizzard of '96. School was closed for 2 days and the third day was a 2-hour delayed opening. It was still almost impossible to get around and many buses got stuck.
