A few years ago when we were getting those monthly reports didn't someone in charge of that say when it comes to speeding you have 10 seconds to get back under that 1 mile over making you over the limit?

Pretty sure if you just step on the gas it will be a violation. The price is absurd just like the other violation prices.

" Several parents, including Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso complained that the city's policy of extending the busing contracts that date back to the 1970s has done little to address delays or other busing issues."

This will NEVER get resolved until there is a massive increase in hiring to cover every run. They don't give the companies enough credit for being down drivers and still covering multiple runs by drivers.

Must have been all those VIA Log ins yesterday that sealed the deal.....

Good news to hear

The logic of this makes no sense. If they want to see if their child is on the bus simply the GPS on the VIA system is 100 percent enough to see where the bus and where their child is. And to be honest how many parents even use the GPS VIA system, do they think that every parent will check the the system to see if their child scanned on the bus. Majority of the parents who want to know where their child is have air tags for their child. The headache this will cause especially when students lose their ID cards to scan. Wasn't this a bus driving job? Now we gotta be phone techs while driving the bus

I think it was 3 summmers ago before anyone even used VIA, they wanted to test it out but we never did that summer BUT they did say in time there was going to be part where students would be swiping their ID on the black box in the bus AND if they didn't have their ID on them, lost their ID, or wasn't working it would be up to the driver to manually put the student on the bus. Drivers then brought up how it shouldn't be up to the driver because who is then watching the stop signs as students cross to not get hit by cars running the stop signs as we are entering in students information to be on the bus in VIA as well as other valid points to the response of the person running the session said "cars run stop signs out here?" They don't even have a clue as to what goes on and it's clearly a safety issue but I guess they don't care if they are planning to run a test session on this because it was explained then that students would have to swipe their IDs getting on and off at their stops. Just another thing to add to our list of things of driving as a school bus driver.

Quote from: Buzz on October 30, 2025, 11:14:05 PMWhere did you read that? It didn't apply to us. As of now, we're laid off after tomorrow.

There were two articles I saw this morning, one in particular that said "a handful of companies agreed on a 30 day extension postponing layoffs" I doubt we are in that but here's the article

So if and when his "lockout" happens we would be on unemployment till a new contract is signed between the city and the companies? And when that happens do we continue with our current contract that we have with the company as well as our benefits kicking back in once we return?

Quote from: faceit on October 29, 2025, 05:42:44 PMI don't understand why the news outlets are reporting that we are going on strike why isn't the union stepping in and contacting the news outlets to let them know it is the owners that are laying us off. We are not going on strike. Fake news is going to hurt us.

I can't tell you the countless comments I have seen on Facebook, SI live and other SI neighborhood sites stating we are going on strike EVEN one worse one a bus driver(not sure of the company) told a parent he was going on strike tonight by attending tonight!!! I quickly commented and corrected her stating tonight is a rally not a strike because if it were a strike your child wouldn't be getting picked up tomorrow. The surge of misinformation is spreading nonstop of us striking when we clearly aren't. I know we are blamed for mostly everything but give us a break here lol.

Overall I just don't like how they just throw us to the dirt and say screw them. Like we are ready to work every day, we shouldn't have our medical stripped from us OR our pay due to greed and lack of common sense on both ends. Just like they tried screwing with us during Covid when if we came in and our school was closed they only wanted to give us 4 hours. Screw that I'm here ready for a full day I shouldn't be penalized due to a third party being closed and same in this situation. You don't wanna pay us fine but we should some how be able to keep our medical because once again this isn't us causing the stoppage

End of the day this letter is pointless. It doesn't need to be a paragraph. Simple statement, dear parents due to unfortunate circumstances there is a contract stand off between the city and the companies. We bus drivers are ready to work and want to work but due to their situation they will not let us work. This isn't a strike and this isn't on the bus drivers doing.

Before this letter went out it was already made aware on SI advance and the post with misinformation stating this is our fault when it's clearly not and we suffer the consequences as usual due to greediness and lack of common sense
