Second day in a row I saw a fuel truck WAITING to dump until buses fueled. Long overdue, but don't know how long it will last. I fuel in the morning, but it just has always irked me that these guys come during "rush" hour.

I'm sure it irks them just as well. I'd assume they pick up their fuel in NJ and drive straight here. Then how do you think they feel when they get here and they're asked to sit and wait while 50 buses get fueled. We have drivers that literally can't wait around 10 seconds no less an hour or two. "Go Petrides Go!" Just saying

Maybe the person who orders the fuel at Pioneer can stipulate a delivery time, lets try not before 4:30 PM. Maybe??

Fuel should be Dumped Daily from 12:00 - 1:00 while the Mechanics are on Lunch and nobody is there to get Fuel ! But that would make sense !!

I think that was tried last year or the year before but it didn't pan out. I don't know if these fuel truckers work for themselves or for a company and even if they work for a company some of them still might get paid by the load and not the hour. So naturally they would be on the go!

Yeah, but the point is, they shouldn't be here at that time. We're their customer, they should come at our convenience, not theirs. If they have to wait, it's their own  fault. So should 50 buses have to wait a half hour for them to drop fuel? After all these years they should have learned, no?

Actually, one of the mechanics told me that now they don't "close" for that hour. Still, between 12 and 2:30 and after 4:30 would be preferable to "rush hour."

That's not my point. We're not the truckers customer. We're the fuel company's customer. The driver of the fuel truck is just like us (the driver of a bus). We want to get done as soon as possible and not wait for anybody or anything! I'm sure without going into detail you know exactly what I mean! On a positive note none of us will have to worry about the fuel truck tomorrow.

Of course Pioneer is the "fuel company's" customer, not that of the driver. And it's up to the fuel company to send their truck/driver at Pioneer's convenience, just as we can't dictate to schools that we want their kids out at 1 p.m. because we want to go home.

If a driver has 5 stops to make in a day and Pioneer is his 2nd stop what is he supposed to do? I think the last few days we might have just got lucky. Basically no matter what time the fuel truck gets here it's a bad time unless it's before 5:00am or after 5:00pm. The next time the fuel truck is here I'm gonna ask them how they get paid and/or if they have to make "x" amount of stops a day. I'd assume that they're not getting paid strictly by the hour. If so, everyone of those drivers would sit in our yard all day long. Furthermore, why is it that Pioneer should get priority and/or special service as compared to any of the other fuel/transport company's customers?  ... Because it irks us

the fuel truck is a screw up basically at anytime...on average days we basically take the whole tanker... and the fuel company basically delivers for NYC , the  city buys oil by the barge load and this company delivers to DSNY,NYPD,FDNY,MTA and  us and also the other large school bus contractors...thats why they put a DYE in the fuel that turns it red so the City can catch stealing.. so i guess the fuel transport company feels NYC is the customer probably.....

Interesting that you mention dye. First I heard of a dye was a couple of days ago ... a driver saying it's a blue dye. If it is, maybe the blue with whatever color diesel is makes it red?

i sat behind that fuel truck too many times waiting.and i noticed when they done filling tank they pour in a dye about 5 gallon pail, could be blue ,im thinking red but not definate...if i understood the fueler awhile ago,he said they really cant even fuel up white one...i guess the tow truck diesel is not included in the bus contract...
