Heard this ad on 1010 wins this morning ... apparently it's on TV too. (At the end of the video, they spelled Amalgamated wrong, however.)

10-4, buddy. The company knows why we're out there and I don't think there is ill feelings either way ... thank goodness. And yes, Pioneer is and always has been the envy of the industry and rightfully so.

What Bloomberg doesn't take into consideration is that there were 1700 runs (1181) in 1979. Today there are 7,700. Then, what about inflation? And that everything costs more in NY?

Also, he compares it to LA. Well, maybe in LA practically every inter-borough NCLB doesn't mean another run. Or maybe they don't do things like airlift a kid from NY by helicopter and take him and a private nurse to Westchester every day ... plus many other specialized services that cost thousands per kid per day. Of course when you figure all that (and inspectors' salaries) in, the per-child average is going to increase accordingly.

Is there anyone who can explain to Just_Right that I'm opposed to the strike (I'm an independent thinker, I don't get cowed by a bunch of union thugs roaming their glare about the auditorium during vote night.) Therefore, I wouldn't be a "piss poor example" of someone to hold your hand on the picket line, because I won't be on the picket line. Just_Right's having trouble with the concept of opposition to the union bosses – maybe no one's ever tried it before?

Nobody wants this strike. Maybe you have a better idea for trying to make sure you still have a job in a couple of years?

This post is this NYC public school parents' blog gives us the idea as to how they feel about the strike. Blame squarely on Bloomy ... http://nycpublicschoolparents.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-real-issues-behind-looming-bus.html

2. That's true. And the fact that you and I make the same amount of money is yet another failure of the union. I'm a better driver with a better record, and therefore I should be making more money – but for the union's anti-competitive rules. As I wrote before: "And seniority (punching the clock) is all that matters to the union, not quality. Or skill. Or work ethic." After all, does Mark Sanchez make as much as Tom Brady?

If you're such an asset, why don't you go to work in private, non-union industry where your pay is based on merit? My guess is you wouldn't be making half of what you're making now, genius.

(I do have to compliment you on your ability to break down quotes into multiple segments, though.)

. And seniority (punching the clock) is all that matters to the union, not quality. Or skill. Or work ethic. (And making sure that the most senior drivers can never get fired, no matter how lazy they are or how much they screw up.) So, to hell with the kids. It's all about the drivers. And their money.

I find it hard to believe that you're even an 1181 member. If you are, and if that's the way your company operates, they deserve to lose their work ... and you with it.

Any truth to the wild rumor that Walcott and Union were working on a deal and almost closed it and talks were planned and would resume next week? Sure did make for good news....but as I said was a rumor.

Nahh ... doubt it very much. Walcott is just a puppet and can't do anything without Bloomy's hand up his ass.

Does anybody else feel completely uninformed?  If we strike what about medical ....unemployment ....strike money .....union position.....etc.  Why don't we know or hear ANYTHING. Even just our current position.  Are we asking too much?

Had Ernie come on the site to answer questions. See his other posts.

Buzz, what's going on with a strike. Are we going to have jobs in Jan.? I heard Bloomy put the bid out already.

No news is good news ... for now. Lots of meetings going on with city and state. As of Wednesday, we're working ... who knows after that.
