yes. Maybe you might want to try to open the book by phone. If you can get through. You might fair better then some of us have.

By phone do you mean the automated system or you have to speak to a live person?

hideout

When I got through to unemployment this past Monday I asked the rep. why when I try to claim benefits, after opening a new book, it is telling me I haven't claimed benefits since 5-3-20 and asking me if this is because I worked, yes or no? As I have stated earlier,in another post, she didn't no  and would have a specialist call me. Well 5 days later NO CALLBACK and trying since Wednesday and can't get through. The rep. did say she could file, with me, over the phone for the week 7-20-20
to 7-26-20 which we did, but no money into my account as of today. So, I tried this morning to   file by phone. Even by phone I am asked the question, "You have not claimed benefits since 5-3-20" was this was because you worked yes or no. I did not complete filing by phone because of this question. How can anyone answer that question when their was no break in claims since 5-3-20. I will try calling next week, again, to unemployment, but am not holding out much hope because you just can not get through!!! What a system and very frustrating.
To further complicate matters I received in the mail, from Unemployment, my monetary benefit determination. Remember I opened my new book on July 20,2020. On the monetary benefit statement it is showing a start date for my new claim as 4-27-20. I have no idea what's going on. On top of that I got a 2nd letter from unemployment on how to claim my weekly benefits and it states make sure you claim between Sunday, 5-3-2020 through Saturday 5-09-2020. Just bizarre!!! Good luck to all on opening a new book either by phone or online!!!

Opened my new book online today. Seems to be no problem. Last day worked 4/30/2020. Answered no to question did you lose employment due to covid. Not sure if that is why others had a problem. My thinking on that was I lost my employment due to lack of work and the fact that my book ran out. Got confirmation number and will log on tomorrow to check.

How did u answer
Lack of work
       or
Due to COVID

In my opinion it was lack of work due to COVID

I put 4/30 last day. 9/10 return. I did not put COVID only lack of work. That's a tentative return date. If we don't go back I don't see a problem. Received email stating no need to call a representative. I figure if you put COVID they might see it as a totally new claim rather than renewing your book. Some workers under COVID are still being paid by their employers. To each their own, that's the way I chose to do it. I'm sure it can be amended if needed.

Let us know how you make out. If we put down 9-10 and don't go back aren't we at fault or something?
